The pub manager attacked my non-italian friend with offensive words in Venetian dialect when she tried to pay with her credit card. I am Italian and understood every word. So I stepped in, asking for some civil behavior. The manager (Aldo?) complained rudely about our credit card and wanted cash for our small bill. His colleague joined him complaining vehemently. I explained that we had run out of change and only had a card to pay. Although it is mandatory in Italy for pubs to accept cards, I understood it may be costly for them. I offered them to charge us more, or wait a moment for us to take money for the ATM close by. They seemed to calm down and agree for us to take cash at the ATM located a few meters away, visible from the pub window. But, as we headed to the ATM, the manager yelled loud at us to come back and one of us had to stay next to him and the other withdraw the cash. I asked to stop yelling, but he and his colleague attacked us with very offensive language. We were in shock. They chose to attack us on a matter of € 4, instead of reasoning. These people should not be allowed to run a pub. While still shouting offensive words, they finally took out a reader and let us pay with our card. By the time the transaction was done, they were so heated that we feared they attacked us physically. Terrible experience. But we are pleased to say that all other places we visited in Venice were civil and friendly. They made it up for the aggression we suffered...
Read moreEXTREMELY RUDE !! I used their bathroom, although I hadn't ordered anything, because I mistakenly thought that my friends had bought their drinks from here. While I was waiting in the line, the owner (or employee) asked me where I was sitting and I said outside. When I finished, the guy followed me OUTSIDE of the bar, up to a bridge nearby where my friends were, several meters away. He started shouting at me for using the bathroom without having bought anything. I apologized, but he didn't calm down. My friends apologized too, he kept screaming until he almost called me names, but he stopped the phrase in the middle and he changed it to "anyways, it is bothering me" and left. We even felt afraid that he would become violent.
Disclaimer: I am not saying his point was wrong, but he lost his right (and us as customers) because of his behavior.

Purchased a few drinks for our party of 4 on a very hot early afternoon, older woman and younger (but still older looking) woman were very unfriendly and gave off the vibe that either they didn’t want to be there that day or they really didn’t want us there, either way it made for an unpleasant experience and we quickly left and opted for the place next door. Service was much better and the staff incredibly friendly. Too many other options to treat customers as if you don’t...
