Myself and my partner did a trip around Florence, Venice and Bologna last September (2024) and this is one of the best dining experiences I have ever had anywhere in the world.
Before we start though, there is another takeaway pasta place with the same name. I do not know if it's the same owners or same people but google maps often got confused with which place you wanted and you could spend an extra 15-20 minutes walking to the wrong place so make sure you don't make the same mistake we did (twice!) and ensure you are going to the restaurant on the street Rugagiuffa. Also this place is rammed, it's very busy so you probably will need to book a table in advance. We popped in about 1PM and booked a table for 7PM no problem at all but when we were in for dinner some people popped in but were turned away as they didn't have a booking and the restaurant was full.
The highlight is the cheese wheel dishes, there is a cheese and black pepper spaghetti dish and carbonara where the chef comes out with a huge wheel of cheese and then makes the sauce for your pasta right in front of you. It is such a spectacle if you go here and nobody on your table orders one of these dishes, what the hell are you doing! I have not included the video I took of this amazing visual treat because it's better if you see it in person.
My partner had the cheese and pepper wheel dish and the only reason I didn't do the carbonara is I had a poor carbonara earlier in the week in Venice from somewhere else and it had put me off the dish but it is a huge regret now having tried a bit of my girlfriends dish. I had a tagliatelle type dish with beef in a tomato sort of Bolognese sauce which was delicious and perfectly cooked.
I also ordered the large beer and got a shock at how large it was. My experience to date in Italy had been the beers were all small bottles and a large bottle was basically the size you would get a normal beer in the UK so when the lovely server delivered my drink I knew I would be going to the toilet often over the next few hours!
The prices were very fair for the quality of food and dining experience, it was the same standard pricing you get everywhere in Venice, 10-15 euros per dish and they should actually charge more (although I am glad they don't because people of all financial means shouldn't be priced out of good food)
There is a lot of bad restaurants in Venice that know fine well it doesn't matter if they make good food as tourists won't ever be back anyway and just serve overpriced rubbish but this place was amazing and if you visit Venice and don't come here you have made a...

During my recent visit to Venice, I had the pleasure of dining at Dal Moro’s, and I can confidently say it was one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had. This hidden gem exceeded all expectations, offering everything you could want in a meal – from price to taste to ambiance.
Unbeatable Prices: In a city known for its tourist traps and inflated prices, Dal Moro’s stands out with incredibly reasonable prices. You get high-quality food without the hefty price tag, which is a rare find in Venice.
Incredible Pasta: The pasta at Dal Moro’s is, without exaggeration, the best I’ve ever tasted. Freshly made right in front of you, each bite bursts with flavor. Whether you choose classic marinara, carbonara, or a more adventurous sauce, the richness and authenticity of the ingredients shine through. It’s clear that Dal Moro’s takes pride in every plate they serve.
Decadent Tiramisu: No meal in Italy is complete without dessert, and the tiramisu here is pure perfection. Light, creamy, and perfectly balanced between sweet and bitter, it was the perfect way to end the meal.
Live Cooking: One of the highlights of Dal Moro’s is the live cooking experience. You get to watch the chefs expertly prepare each dish from scratch, adding an extra layer of excitement and authenticity to your dining experience. It’s mesmerizing to see the pasta made fresh, the sauces simmering, and the final product coming together in such a delicious way.
Perfect Atmosphere: Despite being a small, fast-paced spot, everything about Dal Moro’s feels personal. The friendly staff, vibrant energy, and passion for food make it more than just a meal – it’s an experience.
In short, Dal Moro’s is an absolute must-visit when in Venice. From the exceptional pasta to the delightful tiramisu, all wrapped up with affordable pricing and a live cooking spectacle, everything was perfect. It’s no surprise that this restaurant has earned a reputation as one of the...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review, but this is a first. Lots of problems with this place. In short, the food is okay at best. I can recommend you better and more authentic Italian food 4,000 miles away, but we're in Venice so that's not a good sign.
The experience seemed to be more important to them than the taste of the food. Servers were kind but they neglected us for the majority of the experience.
First we got drinks which were good. Next was the "fish cone" which was assorted fried fish like prawns, anchovies, and calamari. It was super salty and weird, nothing to offset the salt and tasted nothing like the food we had been having on our trip thus far. The anchovies tasted like fish bait.
My wife had the al formaggio, which was pretty decent. Very thick with gnocchi. I had the Veneziana squid ink pasta. There's many descriptors to describe the taste of this, but all of them would get my review flagged... It tasted like the fish squid and mussels were imported days ago, then boiled in plain water and dropped on the plate. Extremely fishy smelling and tasting with zero flavor. I eat and cook seafood all the time and never had mussels that tasted like Davy Jones' foot.
In reality the restaurant is a 3-4 star restaurant, but seeing a line out the door as we left our worst dining experience in Italy made me leave a 1 star, to offset this...
