This was the only restaurant in all the places we dined at in Italy that was terrible in every respect. I’m referring to order error, server nastiness/rudeness, portion size, cold food, overpriced and their unwillingness to correct their errors when they served the wrong dish.
My wife and I approached the restaurant and saw people dining outside. We saw a customer being served a shrimp dish that looked good, but the customer returned it. I don’t know why, but we should have taken caution at that time and just walked on by.
As my wife and I were being seated, I asked the manager outside what was the name of the dish that was just returned. After he told me, I said I want the same shrimp with polenta dish, but not the one that was just returned. He said of course you will get a fresh serving.
Much to my unpleasant surprise I was served a completely different dish from what I ordered, and as far as I was concerned it was the return of the last customer cut up to hide the re-use of the returned food. This was obvious because the shrimp was supposed to be whole but what they served was shrimp cut up into pieces. (Not what I ordered and half the portion size of the returned dish).
Then to add insult to injury, when I brought the problem to the server’s attention, he started yelling at me in a disrespectful and arrogant manner, and lied by saying that was what I ordered. I called the manager over to resolve the problem and he agreed with me that it wasn’t the correct dish.
The manager told the server to replace the dish with the correct one but when it arrived, there were only a few small shrimp on the plate (now about a quarter of the original dish) along with an ice cold polenta cake that must have come from the returned order. They didn’t ever have the courtesy of heating it back up. They were obviously sending a message that they don’t care at all about their customers. This was the worst dining experience we have had in our 50 years of marriage.
My review is 100% accurate. If you decide to go to this tourist trap restaurant, don’t be surprised if you have a...
Read moreThis place may be the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. So good, we had to come back the next day. First night in Venice, we came here after a tour of the St. Mark Basilica. The first night we came, I got the salmon and mashed potatoes, my mom got lasagna, and dad got spaghetti with clams and a salad, and we all got scallops for the table. The food was nothing short of life changing. The salmon skin was perfectly crispy, and the seasoning was subtle but perfect. You could taste the freshness of the salmon. Frankly if they told me they had just caught it from the river and prepped it completely fresh in the back, I'd believe it, that's how fresh it was. The scallops were delicious as well. Again, the seasoning wasn't punch you in the face strong, but it was truly made and seasoned to perfection, and the ingredients were surely high quality and fresh. The next day, I got the steak and potatoes, my dad got the veal, and my mom got the seafood risotto, as well as a mixed fish platter. Again, a stunning experience. The steak was so tender, succulent, and juicy. The mixed fish platter had a great variety as well. Smoked salmon, smoked to perfection. Cod puree, delicious and flavorful. The potatoes were crispy too. The service here went above and beyond as well. My mom wanted to order a chocolate martini, but they didn't have it on the menu. However, they were more than willing to try their hand making one with what they have, and even acted excited to do so. Plus, the time to get the food was relatively quick. It was great! Over all, anyone who's in Venice, be it a local or a tourist, I highly recommend eating here. I may even go as far as to say that you mustn't come to Venice without eating here. My only complaint will be that nothing will ever be as good as here. Truly...

Anything so close to San Marco place is a tourist trap, clearly... and we knew that going in, but we wanted to get a quick bite to eat before heading back to the hotel and it was late... The thing about tourist traps is that they don't really care if you ever come back... and the way they treat you, they know you won't... the bad thing about tourist traps in Europe is that they don't have to EARN their gratuity... It's INCLUDED! The food was really generic... The waiter reached over mine and my wife's heads to grab hanging plants - IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR DINNER - because there was a sudden downpour outside and he wanted to... water his plants?!? Catching my wife's hair in the pot while doing it and not even bothering to either ask if he could reach over, or apologize... no manners! To the waiter who asked twice about his tip: "Don't Be A D* if you want a tip..." We actually had nice experiences in some places in Venice... this was NOT one of them and they'll never see us, our money, or our...
