Don't be afraid of the Squid ink! I was nervous. My girlfriend was quite concerned. We were both pleasantly surprised. Their pasta is as good as their fried foods here, and their fried food is good so don't hesitate to try either. We tried the fritta di mare and the squid ink pasta(Nero di something). They were both novel. The fritta is a generous cone filled with tiny little whole fried fish, whole fried shrimp, and calamari. The seafood was fresh, well fried, and came with a tasty dipping sauce. Americans be warned, the fish and shrimp come with head attached. If that's a problem, you'll want to head straight to the nearest airport and go home. Otherwise, eat it and enjoy. The squid ink pasta was likewise very unusual and very tasty. It's a local delicacy that we were intent on trying. It is ink and it's jet black, so just be careful. But it's good. Not too expensive here, which is hard to come by in Venice. Definitely give this place a shot if you want to try an authentic Venetian spin on fried food or have a bucket list of weird local...
Read moreWe visited Fried Land thrice, consecutively for lunch and dinner, within our 2 days in Venice! It was absolutely delicious and so worth the money! On the first day, we paid 9 EUR for fried shrimp and calamari and 7 EUR for black cuttlefish pasta which were both great! The fried seafood was so much better than the other store we tried which was more highly recommended, Acqua E Mais, and cheaper and bigger in portion as well! For dinner, we tried the fried seafood (shrimps, calamari and lots of anchovies) which was great as well and only for 8 EUR! The shrimps were so deep fried that you could eat the shell and the head without having to peel it off which was very convenient! We also tried number 12 on the pasta list which was very very yummy but the black cuttlefish pasta was just better. The last day, we returned back for our favourite dish, the fried calamari and shrimp! We will miss Fried Land and it’s lovely owners who make such great food! One of them even helped refill our water bottle...
Read moreThe only problem I have with this is they don't have this store in every country. The seafood pastas are the best pastas we've had in Venice (and tbh from our Italy trip). We were in Venice for 2 days and we've gone back 3 or 4 times. I've had a different seafood pasta each time and so did my partner. And every single one of them was so delicious I cried tears. It isn't hard to please my taste buds but it's very hard for me to be blown away by food. I was blown away every pasta I had here. The black cuttlefish, any pasta w the shrimp. Omg. I need more. Also it's the second cheapest pasta but most worth it pasta I've had in Italy/Venice. I am not usually a seafood pasta kinda person bcus each time I had one, there was always an issue e.g. not enough sauce, not tasty enough, too oily, not fresh etc. This one was perfect. It tastes UNLIKE any pasta you will ever have in Venice or Italy It is genuinely delicious. Coming from someone who has pasta every...
