We don’t recommend this restaurant. We should‘ve read the other recommendations beforehand.
First we got our table and had two wait 10 minutes until the waiter came. We saw that they charge 1,50€ coperto per person and 12% service charge.
They prices for the food are fair but not cheap (at least 12€ for pasta), but the prices for drinks are way to high. 200ml beer cost 4,50€ and 400ml 6€. The normal prices are 4,50€ for 0,5l beer. Cokes are also 4€ for 0,33l.
We ordered either way because we already had to wait a total of 20 minutes until we could order. I ordered a lasagna and two cokes, because my girlfriend wasn’t hungry. They took away her dishes except the Glas and put in back in the shelf.
The staff was very arrogant and not nice. Not a smile, not a Gracie, nothing.
The lasagna came after 5 minutes and was room temperature in the middle. It wasn’t bad so we originally wanted to give a two star review. The lasagna wasn’t much but the portions on the tables next to us were mostly very small and 5 bites at most. A few portions were really big, it looked like those guests knew the waiters.
We had to look for a waiter who noticed us for 5 minutes and he was very rude when we said that we wanted to pay. It took, no joke, another 10 minutes until he got us the bill. We saw him hauling bottles and ingredients around while we waited.
When we saw the bill we got very frustrated. They still charged 3,00€ for the coperto even though my girlfriend only had one Glas for the coke. Our food and drinks added to 20€ but we had to pay 25,80€ in the end. That is more than 25% of our bill, if we could we wouldn’t have given any tip at all.
12% service charge for really awful/ no service. Rude...
Read moreMy family felt targeted by the owner and the events that led to the poor service were extremely biased. Racism was evident. We ordered the branzino, but the fish was not scalled, and the waiter did not fillet the fish for my wife. The couple next to us who received the same dish had the fish filleted by the waiter. This incident has made it clear that we were not welcome on this island. We made every effort to leave quickly, as it was evident that the restaurant did not want people of color there.
This was the most disappointing fish I have ever tasted. It took an excessive amount of time for us to receive our check after requesting directions to the restaurant on three separate occasions. Consequently, we have decided to refrain from returning to this establishment and will not recommend it to others. Furthermore, I am inclined to believe that the Michelin stars displayed on the window entrance are fraudulent. It is highly improbable that the subpar food and service justify a Michelin rating. I have conducted research and discovered that the Michelin squares displayed in the window are indeed fake and have been reported.
As evident from the owner’s comment, they demonstrate a lack of respect for African and African American culture, as well as for equality and kindness in individuals. Consequently, this establishment should not be permitted to operate, and food should not be...
Read moreAlways worth the trip to Murano. Years ago when I was doing a tour with a local guide, I was told “You have to try Lele’s! The seafood is always fresh and delicious.” My guide was correct back then and even with Lele having partially retired, the food and service keep me coming back. Murano isn’t that far from the main islands, but the vaporetto sardine experience during the summer is almost enough to discourage the trip. But every time I go, the the food alone is worth the trip. The waiters make constant rounds from the tables outside to the kitchen inside. When the weather permits and space is available, I recommend sitting outside.
The house wines are excellent and if you’re hungry, the Grand Antipasto da Lele is a favorite of mine. I got Branzino as a main, smothered in artichokes.
It took my waiter, Nicola, a minute to recognize me in a sea of constantly changing new faces, but as is common in Venice repeat customers are a special treat.
Tourists are most common here, so language is rarely a problem. The kids seem to enjoy all the kinds of pasta, and the French fries look fantastic. It’s a special place in the lagoon and it will always be on my short list of places to visit when...
