We grabbed a few pastries here during our day trip to Vernazza. They were a bit dry and bland. The bigger issue, though, is the dishonesty! The cashier quoted me the price of 7.50, which I paid using my credit card, like I have nearly everything for the last week in Italy with no issue. When I was going through receipts this evening I noticed that the total amount indicated was USD 8.52 and that it includes a markup of 3.90% and a disclaimer that I was given the option of paying in either currency and selected USD, which is completely false. I plan to dispute the charge with my credit card company. It’s not a huge amount, but I want others to be aware of the dishonest practices of this establishment so that they don’t get ripped...

You can find better focaccia just around the corner. Do yourself a favour and don't spoil your holiday mood. You don't have to endure the feeling of being an unwelcome intruder by the rude staff.
To the staff: Portate vergogna a Vernazza. We know what you murmur under your nose in Italian - non siamo stupidi. Soon your attitude will be the ruin of you. I understand Vernazza is a tourist trap - For €12, you’re supposed to get a takeaway LARGE fried calamari & fried vegetables. What we got instead was simply unacceptably small portion, and both fried foods were cold. Not even lukewarm. The server was at least smiling. Later vIsited pizza shop across the road on my way out of Vernazza - a huge round pizza (hot), a piece of foccasia pizza (heated), & 2 drinks cost us €14. Way better quality food...
