Honestly, the pokébowl I got was flat out gross. I got a small poke with carrot, avocado and mango, I wanted edamame but they were out. For protein I got salmon and the base was white rice. The salmon had no flavour at all, it was lukewarm as was the rice. The avocado wasn’t ripe, it was so unripe in fact that it was almost hard to chew. As for the mayonnaise it was good but put quite sparingly on top, making the entire bowl taste pretty bland. But I think the worst part was how the entire bowl was oily (?!). It was so oily every bite was greasy and in the end I was left with an entire puddle of oil from unknown origin. Quite unappetising.
As for service the man handling my order was quite nice and helpful, quick to serve and did his job quite good. The place itself is very small and a bit dinghy, with a peculiar smell, but since they handle Foch I guess that is to be expected.
Since I payed 15 euro for dinner and not much else choice I got the entire bowl down with only a little bit of trouble. It was filling at least and I didn’t get sick so I assume the place keeps some sort of hygienic standard.
If you choose to go here, it might be good to go if they have recently stocked up and have...
Read moreCraving something other than Italian food after a long hike from Corniglia to Vernazza, I saw Organic Poke which had 4+ reviews, so I was excited to try.
We ordered two bowls: • Riomaggiore a salmon bowl. The rice was drowning in sauce which made it unpleasant - mushy. The tomatoes, capsicum and cucumber were fresh. • Manarola, an octopus base bowl, however as he made the bowl he advised there wasn’t enough octopus so if he could replace with Tuna, which we did however when eating through the bowl there was zero octopus so this was disappointing. However the crispy onion gave great texture, and rice was much better though we asked him to not add as much sauce (we received the riomaggiore bowl first whilst he made this one.)
I’ll add, it was interesting to price their signature bowls at €14.90 on the menu. So I was expecting to pay this amount (payment was made after the meal) but to my surprise it was €17.90 as I ordered a regular. It feels misleading as there was not a sign to indicate small or regular except on DIY bowl which had small or regular.
Overall, food was fine to eat but it would not be my...
Read moreWe are Asians so we know our rice and we know what a poke bowl should be. This pokebowl outlet came highly recommended in TA and Google. It is a little difficult to find, you need to enter a small alley on the left and climb some stairs to reach it. The bowls are not cheap but the portion is huge as there is a lot of rice. The salmon and ingredients like avocado, edamame, corn are all fresh but is not generous. There are a lot more rice than anything. We tried some poke bowls all over the world so we know how it is. The rice is obviously undercooked and taste hard and crunchy instead of the usual moist and soft rice we get. There is no dine in, is all take out. Prepare to wait if there is a queue as there is only 1 staff working. The large size is enough for 2 adults. I think this is overrated and overpriced but I think the staff assembles the bowl with a lot of effort and care. It will be better if more effort is put into cooking the rice properly and portioning more ingredients instead of rice. But for now fr my experience, I Will not...
