After 6 weeks of touring Japan this is the first bad experience we have had, in fact before now not even had a near bad experience. We ended up walking out of this restaurant before ordering, hence the mid review as I didn't get chance to sample the food so it feels unfair to offer a 1. Being a Saturday night and having an advertised closing time of 21:00 we arrived at 20:10. The clock inside is 20 minutes advanced so we were told it was now last orders, this is fair and as advertised. What then was very annoying was that a number of things we wanted were now not available as it was 'last orders'.. the limitations made for an awkward choice on what previously looked a decent menu. I'm a firm believer that a shop owner is incharge and sets the rules. That is only fair, but stick to what you decide. We walked a good distance to eat here, if you want to be closed earlier and lots of things are too much hassle for that time of night then please advertise an earlier closing time to prevent wasting people's...
Read moreThe MOST authentic Indian food available in Beppu (maybe even all of Japan). Period. I'm an Indian who has been living in Japan for nearly 2 years now, and I haven't been able to go back home even once. The food from this place almost made me shed a tear because of how good and close to home it was! The flavours, the options, the atmosphere — it all felt like I was able to go back home for some temporary amount of time. I'd love to go again and again. And the uncle and aunty in the restaurant were so nice and welcoming, it felt like I was talking to my parents when I struck a conversation with them!
I took my Filipino friend with me and she loved the food and its flavour! If you're in Beppu and want to have real and homely Indian food, DO NOT miss out on...
Read moreThank you for clarifying! Here’s an updated version of the review:
I recently dined at Ahuja restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I ordered naan bread and butter chicken, while my husband had chicken curry. When the food arrived, the naan bread was missing and replaced by what appeared to be a whole wheat tortilla—not what we expected or wanted.
The butter chicken was overly salty and came with a cold slice of butter on top, which was unappetizing and not what I’ve come to expect from this dish. My husband’s chicken curry was similarly unremarkable.
All the other restaurants nearby were full, so we ended up here. In hindsight, we probably should have just grabbed something quick at...
