If I could give zero stars for service and atmosphere I would. Definitely the worst service I've experienced in Okinawa, but honestly, some of the worst service I've ever experienced in general.
TLDR: 1) I didn't receive half of my food order 2) waitresses were too busy to help us because they were taking shots at the bar with other loud and rowdy customers then tried to make up for bad service by offering to take a free shot with us 3) about 2 feet of walking space 4) incredibly loud and overall unpleasant atmosphere to be in 5) The buffalo wings and soda I did get were actually pretty good.
I would probably go back but just a different location, I never want to step foot in the Burger Bear at AV ever again.
Things started fine, there was about a 15 min wait when we arrived (party of 3) but the waitress/hostess lets us know some people were leaving soon because they ordered to go. That's fine, it's in AV and an obviously small space so we just waited outside until the buzzer went off. I believe there were about 6 tables that could fit two people each and 6-8 seats at the bar. There was seating outside, however it was raining so I'm not sure what that looked like. One of the first things I noticed was a lack of dress code for the workers, I don't really care about a uniform, but one women was wearing revealing gym clothes and no one had name tags or anything to identify them as a worker. I would let this go normally and just raise an eyebrow but this was just the beginning of an awful experience.
We are sat down, it's incredibly loud, the music is too loud, the bar is 2 feet away from the tables and there was a big group of rowdy people there. I can't hear the people I'm with to even talk to them, let alone order. The waitress comes to take our order in a timely manner, and I ordered a burger, wings and coke. The only part of the order I received was the wings, however the rest of the party received their food okay, but no drinks came. Our food came out in a decent time overall, but we waited an additional 20 minutes to receive our drinks because the two women working were too busy taking shots with the group of men sitting at the bar. After we informed them we never got our drink order, the way they tried to compensate us was by offering to take shots with us for free. At one point I heard a guest yell, "she's drunk!" About one of the waitresses, I thought it was just friendly banter but now I'm wondering if she actually was drunk because of the horrible service and obviously drinking that was going on behind the counter and at tables with guests.
If you're trying to be a fun bar, okay sure, that's probably the place to be, but that's not what the place is advertised as and not how I wanted to spend a Monday evening. If I saw this at Cheers, I wouldn't complain because you know that's the kind of place it is and wants to be, but I'm pretty sure this place is advertised as an "American diner" and that's not what it was at all. I usually post pictures with my reviews but I was so annoyed and upset with the service and atmosphere I didn't get any and actually left to wait in the car for the rest of our group to...
Read moreWorst meal and service that I’ve had in 8 years of living in Okinawa! Such a shame because I was super excited to try the restaurant after the one on 58 closed (I loved it before).
We walked in at 1915 on a Monday. There were 2 open tables and the man taking the order stated, there are 3 easy orders in front of yours; but, it won’t take long. My daughter is 4 years old and I requested that her meal come out before ours. It was a plain kid's burger and she was hungry. He stated, no problem. He then left and we never saw him again.
One cook and one waitress were the only people working in the restaurant.
Trying to be patient. After 30 mins (time was 1945) I had to request our drinks (1 water, 1 milk, 1 beer) be served.
At 2000 half our ordered food came out. At 2005, I asked for her burger. After another 5 mins (2010) it came out. The burger was still pink even though I requested it to be cooked well done. In the meantime, we started to feed her from our plates. No biggie…except when we tried our meals we realized it was absolutely disgusting.
Chicken strips were super oily (dripping oil) and the chicken burger was still pink in some parts with an obvious freezer burn taste on the cooked part.
Needless to say, we didn’t eat even 1/8 of our meal. We left immediately after getting her burger. Thankfully, we were able to grab a slice of pizza down the street super fast and she finally ate.
Our bill was $50 and we received one apology for the delay from the waitress.
This place either changed management or needs to hire more staff and...
Read moreI agree with my wife; was one of the worst meals in recent memory.
Really not sure if the burger was beef or just bread. It was not beefy, nor the consistency of ground beef. Just a grey patty of something.
I suspect soylent green
We both had a baby burger.
Unlike old American A&Ws; baby, mama and papa referred to size, here they refer to toppings with the exception of papa which is two patties.
Fresh onion did not seem to be part of the confusion of toppings, which to me is an absolute fundamental of a hamburger.
So ordering is confusing and the menu is in Japanese only even though it is in American Village a tourist destination for world wide visitors and the international language is not Japanese
The fries were just frozen fries not crispy just blah.
It is hard to find fault in tomato and lettuce toppings unless so massive it becomes disproportionate to the patty. All I could taste was lettuce and tomato, which actually ended up being the best part
The milk shake was enjoyable but a bit too sweet. I suspect too much chocolate syrup. But it was the highlight
Spent ¥3,000 about $30 US
Would...
