We tried houtou and curry. The houtou soup was really good, but i didn't quite like the noodle texture. For me it was really thick and too chewy, like you can taste the flour (?) very different from ramen noodles. But the soup itself was tasty and umami. Sadly there's no meat inside the soup, so only tofu and veggies. We ordered spicy curry, but as an Indonesian who is so used to eat spicy food, I can't taste any spiciness inside. Even my husband who can't eat spicy food, said it tasted just like normal mild curry. Well, might be different for everyone. The place itself was really cute and well decorated, and when we came the tables were full but there were no queue. we just waited for less than a minute to be seated. We opted for this restaurant since the famous houtou resto beside them had a very long queue, and we had no regrets. The aunties were very friendly even though they speak no english at all. And the toilet was really clean despite the crowd, Oh and the best one you can see mt. Fuji very clearly from inside! Depending on the...
Read moreThis place is situated upstairs and the only and the reason why you want to climb the stairs is the chance to watch Mount Fuji while you eat. There is no better spot to do this. We had the houtou nabe which is thick cut udon with miso soup base, it comes served piping hot with veggies. The soup I thick and very very moorish on a cold day when viewing Mount Fuji. The other dishes such as ramen and chicken on rice is decent but the Houtou is the star here! Be warned that this dish takes time so allow roughly at least 15mins for the food to arrive if you have a train/bus to catch. The decoration is dated back to the 90s but it’s very clean like you’ve travelled through a Time Machine. The service is on point in Japanese style and once you finish your meal. You go down a set of stairs which leads to the souvenir store which is very convenient of them before you catch your transport home. We came to kawaguchiko via a bus service as a day trip to...
Read moreWe liked the food so much at this restaurant that we went twice! The dishes had a comforting, home-cooked vibe, and the aunty there was super friendly. The first time, we sat in the second row from the window. On our second visit, we snagged a window seat with a view of Mt. Fuji, though the view was a bit tangled with cables. The place is conveniently right opposite the bus station. Just a heads up: when it's time to pay the bill, you have to go down to level 1, and it's cash only. The uncle handling the payment wasn't exactly radiating joy—it was like we had stepped on his tail.
On our second visit, we were leaving Kawaguchiko after climbing to the summit. Thankfully, they let us leave our luggage on level 1 while we dined on level 2, for free! But will need to pay after meal and to store for...
