Renting an e-bike is 100% the best way to see Lake Kawaguchiko.
We arrived at 9:40 am afraid that they had run out of bikes, but there were many e-bikes left. 3000¥ per e-bike per day. You can just get the standard ones. The ladies helping us were very attentive and detailed with helping us master the bike functions.
I hadn’t ridden a bike in 3-4 years, but after the first 15 minutes you start to get used to it again. Going uphill is MUCH easier with the battery assist, and I can’t believe I’ve never ridden an e-bike before this 🤦♀️ Such a great experience to see Mt Fuji regions.
As long as you stick to the left lane and try to be as close to the left edge as possible, cars can pass and overtake you safely. I did not feel sketchy about this, but my boyfriend was a little bit iffy about the lack of an actual separated bike lane (which is integrated into the driving lane). So maybe get helmets?
We cycled both Lake Saiko and Lake Kawaguchiko in about 4-5 hours. Plenty enough time to rest, have a picnic, see Oishi Park, the Saiko thatched roof museum, etc. The bike’s basket was big enough to hold our backpack and food for the day.
Return was due by 5:00 pm but we came back at 2:45 pm.
IGNORE GOOGLE HOURS. It said they were closed for the day (Sunday) but they were open.
Thank you very much Fujikanko...
Read moreI had a wonderful visit at Kawaguchiko thanks to Fujikanko. I traveled with my mom who uses a wheelchair, and Shinichi helped us while always being mindful about it. He assisted with the itinerary, aside from arranging the chartered taxi service. He even went out of his way to provide us with a rental wheelchair, which we opted for to avoid having to use our own, which was not in a good condition.
Overall, excellent service, very clear and prompt English communication, and reasonable price! Would use their service again in the future, and would recommend you to check them...
Read moreA tip-top bike rental place with both standard and e-bike options, fit for your exploring of the area. This is one of the best deals in the area - just JPY 3,000 to rent an e-bike for the day. The bikes are first come first serve, so do come earlier if you want a good selection.
My e-bike was well maintained and made going up inclines much easier. I was very pleasantly surprised by its sturdiness and assisted acceleration off the line.
In addition, staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the shop being located directly opposite the train/bus station makes Fujikanko...
