Staying at Sumarise Kura was a huge disappointment. Be very careful. We booked a room with a private bathroom and toilet and trip.com confirmed it in our booking details. However, Sumarise Kura DOES NOT HAVE rooms with private bathrooms and toilets. Everything is shared! No hotel management could help you with requests. Checking in is done on an iPad at the entrance. The hotel does not have any staff present. We shared the hotel with very loud students. The walls are thin and to open your room door, you had to use a very noisy locker. We fell asleep late and woke up many times during the night when people were going to the bathroom. The hotel was clean(only the rooms), but very uncomfortable and noisy. I used WhatsApp to contact the management. They did not know their hotel was advertised on trip.com and stopped responding after a few messages. I still have not received a refund from trip.com. I am only getting emails that they are verifying the situation with their partners. This is very dishonest behavior on their part!! The services provided by Sumarice Kura are far from what is advertised on...
Read moreThis is absolutely the WORST guesthouse stay I've ever experienced!!
First, they have very poor maintenance of the facilities and amenities. The shower did not get warm. Other guests were also complaining that they had to walk miles to get to a public bath. The water pot was full of mould and useless too.
However, the WORST PART is that at around midnight when we left the room for a shower and toilet, the dial lock of the room started malfunctioning and we were totally locked out of the room while our belongings were all kept in the room.
Since the hostel does not have a front clerk or any staff whatsoever and the hostel does not pick up any phone call after 9pm, we had no solution.
We ended up in the basement of a nearby hotel called "Kawaguchiko station inn". Although they had no rooms to spare, they still offered a shelter pitying our situation.
If you get in any trouble staying at this place, never expect...
Read moreTraditional 8 tatami room with small table and cushions, mini fridge for the beers, good air conditioning and two generously sized alcoves for all of our luggage. Modern building with rustic feel, excellent showers with soap/shampoo and western style toilets with bidets. No smoking on premises but it's right by a 7/11 if you need. English speaking staff on the phone if you need any help. Right across the road from station by the Bike Cafe, which is easier to program into maps. Considerably nicer than a certain 'station inn' recommended to me by other travelers and extremely competitive pricing at a mere $50 a night. Four futons to the room, but my room could have easily slept five or six if you had some couples. Free parking is about a 350 meter walk by the Suzuki business with a yellow sign, still a huge plus to me with the rapacious 400 yen an hour parking everywhere in the city. Paid for the...
