Such a delightful stay! We travelled there as a couple in August 2023 and stayed 3 nights. The guesthouse is a short walk from Kawaguchiko Station and it's on a quiet side road. We stayed in the room facing Mount Fuji and were indeed lucky enough to have gotten a peek at his majesty right from our window.
The owners were just peaches: kind, thoughtful and passionate about what they do. They speak English well enough that we were able to communicate just fine. In order to avoid bringing large suitcases around, we only brought our smaller ones upstairs and left the large ones at the reception during our stay - so that's an option if you need it.
If you aren't used to guesthouse stay, you might need a bit of adjustment regarding the shared bathroom and shower facilities. I'm used to sharing when I travel, but it was a bit of a shock for my partner. For our first night we were slightly unlucky to share the floor with a very large family, which made it almost impossible to find the toilet available (even if there are one on each floor).
The building is old and creaky and you will most definitely hear everything that's happening outside your room. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Bathrooms and showers are quite on the "vintage" side, but honestly, I knew what I signed up for. The futons were incredibly comfortable and the aircon was a lifesaver in August!
A lovely experience and I will come...
Read moreThis is a nice place to stay for a few nights. The room was clean, quite spacious for a room in Japan. It has tatami style flooring and we used futons as beds. Its a first time experience sleeping in a Japanese traditional style room. The lounge areas, toilets, showers and common areas were clean and spotless. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. You can use the lounge for chilling and the kitchen to cook meals if you are into it. Packet Coffee and tea with a hot water jug was available all day long and in the mornings they do provide some buns and bread for a light breakfast. There is no restaurant in Wafu but you could opt to order a Shabu Shabu meal from the staff before 4pm and have it delivered to the accommodation for dinner.||Kawaguchiko Station is 3 mins walk away and further down from the station there are plenty of restaurants and convenience store like 7-11 and Lawsons.||||The only gripe I had with the room was||The room we were in only had only two sockets for charging our devices and we had to share one of those sockets with the heater. More sockets would have been better seeing that people tend to travel with more and more...
