We spent a few weeks travelling around Japan and this place was by far the best food we ate. It was off-season for seeing/walking around the mountain and the town was very quiet. The restaurant was on a very quiet side street and we might almost have missed it if we were not looking for it specifially. We didn't have to queue (a frist in Japan for us!) and when we went in, it was so atmospheric. It was charmingly lit and run by a seeming one-man-band who was very attentive to us. We were at first the only people there but half way through our meal a few local people turned up. The place had the quality of perhaps an old european tavern. I am vegetarian and struggled quite often to eat in Japan but it was easy here becasue of the style of food, individual items all clearly crafted with care. We ordered a few dishes and were blown away by the quality. We could see the gentleman who was running the place making the food and it was fascinating. We were so excited each time a dish came to our table and were initially worried we hadn't ordered enough but very quickly realised that this was not the case. We enjoyed the food enourmously.
I would highly reccomend this place and the gentleman who runs it. The food was very reasonably priced, the drinks that he had on offer were interesting and different and it was the perfect way to end a lovely evening after spending the whole day at the local themepark. Do visit if you're...

Parking; just use Google map to find public parking lot nearby. Push the button get the ticket, park your car and walk straight to the bar. When you are done, exit w/ the ticket. We used bills.
Ordering: food so inexpensive (if you from California) i just ordered everything and get a beer each. (Since this bar does not charge head fees or sitting fees, they want you to buy at least 1 drink)
Download the menu, choose English. Is that easy! Pay through the app or ask for a check. (I asked for a check as a souvenir) Got to brag about how cheap the meal was to my colleagues. Freaking USD$25 for 2 beers and tons of beef tongue, chicken heart, shrimp etc.
Food we ordered: green pepper cheese ¥140 Shishito pepper ¥140 Grilled stingray fin ¥550 cold tofu (to cool down your tongue, very strong bean taste yet smooth and refreshing. ) ¥360 Shrimp wrapped in pork belly
Suntory Premium Malts
¥480 Tsurami (beef cheek meat)
salt
hearts
Shiso roll What a night!! (Look at the receipt)
Definitely if anyone willing to drive to Fuji from...
Read moreA great find In Fujiyoshida! Really tasty sticks - the Beef with Wasabi and Shiso Rolls being a stand out choice, with the Edamame fried In Chilli and Garlic another tasty choice. Ordering was super easy with QR code. When you are seated, there is a small charge - which you are notified of ¥330 for Otoshi (small snack) which was cabbage with tasty sauce - this is really common at any good izakaya - we always look forward to these. We went to this little place twice in our 3 night stay at Fuji, and would...
