If you're ever in Fukuoka and craving a sushi experience that feels both special and heartwarming, Sushi Sashisu Hakata is the place to be! It’s a cozy little gem tucked near Hakata Station — easy to find, but once you're inside, it feels like you’ve stepped into a secret sushi paradise.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest smiles. The staff were so kind and welcoming — even though my Japanese isn’t perfect, they made me feel completely at ease. The chef has such a calm and focused energy, and you can just feel the love and care that goes into every single piece of sushi.

I went for the omakase course, and wow — every bite was a tiny explosion of happiness! The otoro literally melted in my mouth, the uni was sweet and creamy, and the anago (sea eel) was soft and flavorful with a perfect touch of sauce. Even the little touches like the pickled vegetables and the miso soup were done so well. It’s clear they take pride in everything they serve.

The atmosphere is quiet and intimate, but never intimidating. It feels more like you’re having dinner at a friend’s place — a friend who just happens to be an amazing sushi chef! I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time.

Having sushi 🍣 is one of the must thing to do at least once when in 🇯🇵 its real different compared to your home country sushi restaurants. The ingredients are so fresh, really i think it just cane from the sea 🤪 there are more types of raw fish (some I haven’t even heard of ☺️) this place offers more common types of sushi and quite catering for tourists (as there is english translation in the menu 👍🏻) we ordered some sushi and a potato salad, think u need to try the potato salad as its 👍🏻 the potato is mashed soft and sprinkled with salmon flakes and roe. We really enjoyed the meal 😃 the wasabi though packed individually still retains its freshness. The staff are courteous and efficient in clearing tables. Quite crowded too especially so as the shop is quite narrow. Mind you eating sushi 🍣 in 🇯🇵 isn’t cheap but still...

If you like Quality & Affordability… Sushi SASHISU in Fukuoka at the HAKATA JR station is a great choice! Since it’s in the station basement you will find yourself walking in circles with the spotty WiFi, so to keep it simple it’s in the basement towards KFC.

I was lucky to arrive with no lines before my Shinkansen back to Kansai. I was seated immediately and ordered: Fatty Toro Tuna, Unagi, Tamago, Maki, and Salmon. I add Suntory Biru!
