Wappa — Restaurant in Kagoshima

So happy I found this place! It’s a small eatery offering eight different set meals, all for the same price. It seems like great place to pop in for a quick but fulfilling lunch, and there was a steady stream of customers during my visit.

The shop itself is nondescript from the outside but has a very clean, remodeled interior. With the soft jazz music playing on the speaker system, it made for a cozy atmosphere.

The server immediately brought me an English menu without my asking and she took my order in English, explaining the meal options very clearly. I don’t think any English speaking visitor would have trouble eating here.

The set itself consists of a main dish, two sides, brown or white rice, pickles and miso soup with or without pork. I ordered the fried white fish as my main dish and it was excellent.

The only real downside is the short business hours, from 11:30 to 3pm. But the food is prepared fast and no frill menu means you’ll have your dish and be out the door without losing a lot of time.
