本格炭火焼うなぎ えん 京都三条店 — Restaurant in Kyoto

First night in Japan, my friends and I were walking around in the area around our Airbnb and were absolutely starving when we came across this little restaurant tucked away downstairs..

Safe to say that I was blown away by the freshness of the unagi - the sauce they used was amazing and the eel just melted in the mouth. Even now 2 months after the trip I can’t stop thinking about it!

Service was exceptional too - the waiter was very friendly (gave us an English menu!) - the atmosphere felt really cozy and warm compared to the freezing weather outside.

This place gave me a fantastic first impression of Japan and Kyoto - and while we ate at great places throughout the trip I would still rank this place at the top of the list!

The food is very good and the reztaurant is clean and lovely. However, we have some suggestions regarding the service. We had found most of the staffs to be very friendly and helpful. But during delivering the food to our tables, one of the female staffs with black hair was very impatient and she showed the whites of her eyes for twice during her speaking when we met some challenges identify whom the food item belonged to. As we always believe, communication will help to build up relationship and improvement. We are feeling free if she could speak up at that times if she has any suggestions instead of acting unprofessionally. I was looking for an Unagi don place to try and found good reviews of this place on Little Red app. I decided to give it a try and was worried that it would be a tourist trap and the food would be disappointing.

I found the place easily, it’s in the basement level. Inside is clean and bright. Staff were nice and friendly. Even though I sat at the counter, I wasn’t able to see the actual grilling of the unagi since the view was blocked for some reason.
