My husband and I stumbled upon this gem near Nijo Castle by chance. The carrot cake was amazing—probably the best we’ve had outside our own kitchen. Buttery, moist, and perfectly spiced, just the way we like it.
We also tried the BLT and egg croissant sandwiches, along with a cafe latte and a pour-over coffee. Everything was delicious, and the vibe of the place was just right—relaxed and welcoming. Personally, I would’ve loved the sandwiches even more with a bread option like shokupan or regular sliced bread, but that’s just a preference.
What made it even more special was chatting with the owner. He shared how he started the café after stepping away from a hectic career in the pharmaceutical industry, once his kids were grown. Stories like that make these cosy little spots even more memorable...

The waiter does speak English which is very helpful too, apart from that, he is super friendly ! He came to the table to speak with us a little bit and gave us some advices. This place seems like home in the way you are feeling. He is learning Spanish too so don’t hesitate to say some Spanish words to him. Good filter coffee too.
Give it a try to this place if possible!
Thank you for this place and good luck with the new...
Read moreThis hidden gem we stumbled upon after just arriving in Kyoto. It was the perfect respite after a long travel day. We were greeted by super friendly man (I think the owner?) who chatted with us about our travels and was very kind. The coffee is so good! We got an iced latte and the coffee float. The coffee float was a delight and the latte is just what I needed. We also got the matcha desert, I didn’t even see what it was on the menu but he mentioned they had a matcha cake and I said yes please. THANK GOODNESS I DID! it was rich and creamy in a way that made us both go “oh my gosh”. Stop here if you get the chance and enjoy this wonderful...
