ja!rêve — Restaurant in Kyoto

We found this place while we were looking for a late night dessert and were pleasantly surprised. We were initially looking for a quick night dessert but decided to go in because we were intrigued by the dessert menu when we came across the bar. The atmosphere of the bar was something I'd never experienced before; it felt very intimate and allowed friendly interactions between the patrons and also the bartender.

The desserts themselves were also nothing to scoff at; they were beautiful and the plating was close to being a work of art. The taste also far exceeded our expectations. It was a shame though that the recommended seasonal dessert menu was sold out as we were really looking forward to it.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and the price that we paid felt really cheap considering the quality of the dessert and the atmosphere...

My brother and I recently visited ja!rêve in Kyoto, Japan, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The desserts, crafted by the talented owner Maho, were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the skill and passion put into the creations.

Maho was not only an exceptional pastry chef but also a wonderful host. She was very pleasant and conversational, providing us with great recommendations for places to see around Kyoto. Her warm and welcoming personality made our visit even more enjoyable.

As the name implies (dream), it is a wonderful place to indulge in fine European food and enjoy the moment to create dreams - with coffee, pastries, cakes, and sandwiches!

Coffee is authentic Italian (full body, dark chocolate taste - this type of espresso is hard to find in Japan), pastries and cakes are just like Europe with fine Japanese quality. We took the items to go as we had a lunch reservation, but enjoyed them later!

Drinks were server in very nice serving ware and were fantastic. Would recommend trying any or all aspects! Arigato gozaimasu for a...
