Since we were in Japan, we wanted to try kobe beef and wagyu beef. We found Pound Shijo Omiya based on a search for a local steak place and this one did not disappoint. Please do not come here thinking you may be eating like you’re in America. It’s about flavor and quality. Giant American steakhouse, this is NOT. However, it is a yakiniku, where you grill your own meat. Not knowing what we liked, we ordered the Kobe assortment, Wagyu assortment(with salt), premium loin(with salt), raw beef topped with egg. Service was wonderful, attentive and the wait staff was helpful in their recommendations.

There were all non-Japanese customers when we arrived and dined, (which usually is a red flag for us) but the food was so delicious that this was not a concern in the end. Thank you Pound Shijo Omiya! ...

The thin slices of highly marbled beef need to be cooked slowly in my opinion, so no problems with the grill temp that was mentioned as a negative in some reviews. I greatly enjoyed the experience! The English menu and staff,'s above average English proficiency...
