great food! this place was crowded at 4pm, there was short line already forming when we got there. I guess this is a place where the people come after work to grab something to eat and drink. a lot of the customers were ordering different alcoholic drinks and beers.
they have english menu for us tourists and it comes with pictures so you can just point to what you want. prices are very reasonable and the fish were fresh!
one problem we encountered was the staffs aren't too friendly as other places and they also messed up with our ordering. they didn't overcharge us though and in the end we did get what we ordered -- just a little miscommunication, but thanks to Google Translate, we got it all cleared up.
they have bar seating and table seating.
if you're in the area / just got out of the train / just tired of walking and feeling hungry -- i recommend eating here to grab a few plates of sushi and hop on over to your next stop of food...
Read moreVisiting Kyoto and amazed that this restaurant always has a line, so I had to try it out. We got in line at 8 pm on a Tuesday and waited. Other reviewers mentioned they noticed lines when the restaurant had open seats. We saw a few seats open for a short time, but the restaurant was pretty packed. And they were fully staffed. The place is small. We finally got seated around 8:40. It’s sushi, two meat dishes and friend chicken.
We ordered the fried chicken, the beef stew and a bunch of sushi. The food comes out pretty quickly. There were a lot of people working so the service was very attentive.
All of the food was good. The prices are moderate. I’m still confused why there is always a line. There are a bunch of other restaurants all in the same area. No other restaurant around has a line. It’s good. It’s not epic.

Read moreThis sushi spot is absolutely amazing! I originally planned to visit a conveyor belt sushi place, so I was surprised to find that this wasn’t one. But stepping in was the best decision — the sushi here was incredibly good!
I noticed lots of locals dining in, which is always a great sign, and it totally lived up to the hype. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the quality overall was top-notch.
The staff were efficient, friendly, and always quick to assist whenever we needed anything.
I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Kyoto. This place deserves an 11/10 — highly recommended!
P.S. I arrived around 4:30 PM and there was a short queue, but I only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated —...
