[Solo female review] Absolutely loved staying here for 7 nights in Sep2023.
The location is great: less than 10 minutes from Kyoto Station, next to Family Mart, and less than 5 minutes from Don Quijote. I stayed in a room on the 5th floor that had a queen bed. I’m small so the room and bathroom size didn’t bother me (Japan has even smaller stays). I thought it would’ve been at least sufficient if my boyfriend had stayed with me. The room itself was clean, designed well, cozy, and overall great. I thought the bed was comfortable, but the pillows could use improvement and offer more support. I’m a very light sleeper so I was initially concerned about noise when booking. Turns out it’s generally quiet, I noticed I could hear external noise past 8:30-9am (which is when I needed to be up anyway). Overall the noise never bothered me. I had a room view of a preschool which I didn’t care for, I mostly kept the window closed because I liked the room vibes on its own. The room itself had slippers, PJs, baskets for going to the sento, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer, hot water kettle, mugs, mini fridge, ice bucket, deodorizing spray (for shoes), the little tool that helps you put shoes on, hangers, and an air purifier.
The hotel amenities are enjoyable. There’s a cafe in the lobby that I never went to but seemed nice. They offered free bike rentals which I also didn’t use but seemed nice. They offer a lounge area for after using the sento. Complimentary ice pops, vending machines for drinks, ice machine, and a microwave is in that area. There’s also 3-4 washer+dryer combos which were very easy to use (around 500 yen). The sento itself was nice, especially after being cleaned which was 3pm. I went around 4-5pm while everyone was out and about, and it was empty and peaceful. The hotel provides shampoo, conditioner, body wash, small combs, small toothbrushes w/ a tiny toothpaste, razors, cotton pads, and Q-tips free of charge in the lobby and in the sento. The hotel offers fresh towels daily as well.
Check in was easy, the woman who helped me spoke some English. The check out process was easy, I used the kiosk and it took less than 1 min.
As a solo female, I felt safe at this hotel. It was a great experience for me. I will 100% book again when I’m...

The room was small, no windows, only one card per guest room which explains the next part of the stay later.. there’s only one card which explains the room is always dark. Also no window is a no no for superstition reasons… we stayed for two nights and man.. I could not sleep well at all. I’m always the last to sleep due to habit. When o was brushing my teeth the first night, I felt someone was watching me. I looked out the bathroom, the mirror, there wasn’t anyone, since everyone is sleeping, I thought it was just me being sensitive.. overthinking. Didn’t think too much about it. There, the toilet started flushing and sanitizing (this usually happens if someone is near the toilet). It repeatedly do that till morning and miraculously stopped. The last night, it happened again the same time at night, but my friend closed the toilet door before sleeping, I thought it might be a good idea since the toilet gave me creeps. While I was taking a fulls shower with my back facing the glass door, mind you I was a good distance away from it. There’s no way I could touch it even if I stretch my hands backwards. I heard a knocking on the glass door. And whipped towards the direction. There was no one. Ok I thought o might have misheard. As usual last to sleep, the door was closed. Toilet started santizing and flushing, ok. Now, I heard someone draggingsomeothjng heavy in the toilet, there’s no way we had something heavy in there … o thought maybe it’s the neighbours… then I turned up the tv and also my phone music. Next I heard slamming sounds echoing from the toilet , I’m sleeping on the bed by the toilet. I tried my best to ignore it again, now the shampoo bottles started slamming around bouncing off where they should be. It’s so loud, I literally thought it would come thru the door. I wake my friend up. It stopped immediately. The next day when we opened the door, there was no signs of dragging nor the bottles displaced.. it’s super creepy. Also… I’m never wrong when I feel...
Read moreThis hotel is in a really convenient location—just about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. We booked a triple bed and it was a lot smaller than we anticipated. We did end up using one of the beds to open our luggage.
The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when it came to forwarding our luggage to our next destination. Since we were scheduled to move to our next hotel on Sunday, we stopped by the front desk Friday night to let them know we wanted to ship our bags. On Saturday morning, before 10 AM, we dropped off our luggage, and they already had the Yamato shipping forms prepared for us. By the time we arrived at our hotel in Tokyo on Sunday, our luggage was already waiting for us.
One important note: if you’re shipping luggage to this hotel, they only accept deliveries from Yamato. When coming from Osaka, we asked if they would accept our luggage through another service that our hotel provided and they asked if we could ship via Yamato (the black cat) instead.
Another great feature of the hotel is the public bath, which was perfect for relaxing after a long day. They also have a laundry machine, which was convenient, but a word of caution: you can only wash small loads at a time. If you overfill it, your clothes won’t dry properly. There’s a marking on the machine that indicates the recommended capacity. One load took us about two hours, and since our clothes didn’t dry completely, it ended up taking even longer—which was a bit frustrating. There’s also only 3 washing machines which double as a dryer as well. So there were long queues to wash your clothes.
As for downsides, unlike other hotels we stayed at, this one doesn’t provide free bottled water. You’ll need to buy it from the vending machine downstairs. That said, they do offer some nice free amenities like the public bath, free ice cream, and complimentary bike rentals.
Overall, the main reasons I’d consider staying here again is the convenient luggage forwarding service and the relaxing...
