The staff seated us in an isolated area far from other guests, which we didnât like (they refused to move us closer), and the chef, although not his fault, had a cold and was sniffling the entire time he was cooking for us. The starter was a plate of cold meats (roast beef, misc. sashimi) which arrived looking like it had been sitting out all day, dried and withered with a foul odor. Did not eat. After, the chef began cooking the vegetables, which were plated and served with table salt. He then began cooking the beef. Although well cooked, we each received roughly 3oz each. Following the beef was a very mediocre garlic fried rice, with just.. rice and garlic. Nothing more. And that was it! A bill of $856 followed right after (we had ordered a sparkling water and 2 sakes as well), which shook me.
Although this format and pricing may be standard for a âTeppanyakiâ experience in a Japanese city, this restaurant was in a dated, dirty and tacky hotel, with a very underwhelming overall experience for well seasoned travelers expecting a bit of value/ambiance for such a...
