BAR HIRAMATSU UMEDA — Restaurant in Osaka

Bar Hiramatsu was the highlight of our exploration of Osaka’s cocktail scene. One of the best (and completely classic) made Old Fashioned’s we have enjoyed, even compared to our favorite New York and London bars.

Committed to cocktail history, the Brandy Crusta was a revelation. Hiramatsu spent time teaching us about the cocktail, even sharing with us a book (Imbibe!) written by his student, that covers the history of the drink.

We also enjoyed his creative Japanese inspired cocktails, like the Yuzu punch.

Lovely cocktail spot! My husband and I went on our first night in Osaka. It's a little bit hard to find – they're on the second floor of a shopping mall, but it adds to the "speakeasy charm". Both of the bartenders were very friendly and welcoming of foreigners – and true artists in the mixology department! Great drinks and great service! Hiramitsu-san relies on his younger employees for English but he isnt shy to talk to guests.

The drinks and cover charge are a bit pricey though but I guess that's because they're in a mall.
