On August 2nd afternoon around 1:30ish, me and my friend met at Bills for lunch. When we went in, there was no queue with empty tables in the restaurant. My Japanese isn’t good enough so my friend who has lived in Osaka for 20 years and is fluent in Japanese spoke to the hostess for a table for two people. The hostess asked us to wait outside of the restaurant and we did. As we waited for about 5 minutes, 2 Caucasian tourists went in. One of them looked at us wondering if they should queue outside as well, just then the hostess greeted them, picked up the menus and seated them in the restaurant. I was shocked with what I just saw and wanted to speak to the hostess, she dismissed us by telling us to wait a minute and quickly walked away. By then I was already disgusted with the service and lost my appetite to dine at Bills. I cannot believe what I experienced at a popular touristy spot in Umeda. I even tried to find a reason of why she asked us to wait outside and immediately gave a table to other guests that came later. Shame on Bills for being a racist restaurant, the service is terrible and I regret I didn’t confront the restaurant on the spot. Osaka has many amazing restaurants and I feel so grateful that I live in such a wonderful city. Unfortunately Bills left a dirty spot in my...
Read moreReviewing this place is kind of difficult. We've eaten here several times and here's the best I can offer: The front seats with windows facing the station are very nice, but if you get stuck in the back, it's dark and feels crowded. The service can be very good, but is also hit and miss and they seem to have quite a bit of turnover, so you may end up with a new server who doesn't seem to know much, or on occasion, someone who seems downright unfriendly. The food is generally very good (Yes, especially the pancakes) and despite the relatively high prices, is fair value for money, BUT there are gaps. The dessert brownie was really very good, but was served too simply, without any dusting of sugar powder or cream to make it aesthetically pleasing, just plopped on a plate & served. The Parmesan chicken sandwich was good, but the chicken cutlet lacked a savoriness that would be expected at this price point. The corn fritters were delicious, but were explained as coming with spinach. The spinach consisted to two small leaves without any dressing at all. If this is the case, why mention that they come with spinach at all? It felt stingy. I would say these gaps need to be addressed (by a good manager) to get to a 5 star rating. Good, but not...
Read moreI’ve read some bad reviews about the service and the food not meeting some people’s standards for the price so let me tell you our experience: We got a table the minute we got here, they got us english menus, the menu is pretty self explanatory and there are pictures here in google of every dish. The food got here in less than 15 minutes and it was delicious, totally worth it. The Full Aussie breakfast was delicious, sourdough toast was really good, the sausage, bacon and mushrooms tasted great and the scrambled eggs where the star of the show. We got the french toast also and it was also super good. We enjoyed everything truly. Keep in mind you’re right in Osaka Station in LUCUA which is a pretty nice area so that’s why the prices are a bit steep but quality is on point. Would definitely recommend it for a western high...
