Joe's Shanghai New York Grand Front Osaka — Restaurant in Osaka

Tried Joe's Shanghai a few years back at the recommendation of a friend who was familiar with the chain in NYC.

Having spent quite a bit of time in the SF Bay Area that has many good Cantonese Restaurants I am quite familiar with good Dim Sum.

I had high expectations for Joe's Shanghai given that the chain was recommended from a friend who is from Hong Kong who has been to the other locations in NYC.

As it turned out this particular location at the Grand Front Osaka was a mixed bag, the selection of Dim Sum items that was part of the course was very limited in regards to the range of flavors.

There was no chili sauce served so that raised a big flag in my book, I found it extremely odd that something that is a staple for Dim Sum wasn't included when the food was served on the table.

The relative progression of the meal took quite a long time, with traditional Dim Sim there is always a cart that comes by your table and as such there is always something to consume on your table while having tea and chatting with friends.

Overall I found the meal to be overpriced for the quantity and quality of the food...

Dine here tonight and had the worst food service experience, we ordered starters then mains, starters arrive on time but when it came to the main course we had two dishes arrived and then had to wait 30min for the last dish then waited another 10min for the rice to appear, fair to say although the food was tasty how do you eat spicy ma tofu without rice? If your a Chinese restaurant you must realise the rice is the most important part of the main! We did speak to the waiting staff but it seems that they were unable to help.Good food but the delay means we’re will not be back...

The shark fin soup here is absolutely exquisite! The soup is incredibly rich, and the texture of the shark fin is simply amazing. Despite its simple appearance, the flavor is profoundly deep, and you can tell it is made with great care. The touch of greens adds a refreshing accent, perfectly balancing the overall taste.
