Menya Jouroku — Restaurant in Osaka

I wasn’t able to have it on my last two trips, the stall was either out of ingredient or the owner wasn’t feeling well. I should have picked up it was god’s sign to preserve the good memories I once had of the ramen stall. If I could turn back time. I would not have wasted my calories on it. The ramen that I had longed for has long lost its glory.

They were right to be booted off the list of top 100 must-try ramen list. The soul of the ramen, the shoyu was neither flavourful nor granted the broth the umami taste. It simply darkens the soup, just like its future.

It was such a disappointment that I couldn’t be bothered with the pictures. For anyone wondering if the char siu were any good, no, it weren’t. They were however sliced really thinly, that itself was the only thing impressive...

Not sure why so many people complained about the service but the staff was extremely kind and polite when I visited (despite my Japanese being very poor).

You enter and there is a sitting queue of numbered stools. The counter space is pretty limited (seats 8) and we waited about 20-30minutes to be seated for 2 people. This place seem to be popular with locals, we were the only foreigners there at the time.

We came here to try the osaka-style ramen (chukasoba). It was very unique and delicious, I especially liked the thick noodles. If anyone goes there please note each person has to have an order. We only had one combo and the cook told us each person had to have an order. We got in late to Osaka and it was open woth some seats. The place is very dingy with the chef cooking the noodles right next to a garbage pail.

To put it plainly the ramen is very average. Char sui lacked any flavor, the broth had no depth on either ramen. We went with the deluxe and a miso ramen.
