It really ruined my mood during the trip. This is my 3rd visit to Japan and I have traveled to many other countries, but this is the first time I've seen really bad attitude of the wait staff. The waitress who took my order is the worst experience in my entire life. She didn't understand English, didn't like to explain, raised her voice, sighed, and threw her cell phone and menu board. Because of the store's location, foreign travelers pass by and look around with interest, and many visits. As I watched while eating the menu I ordered, other foreign customers were confused about the set menu, just like me. Bingsu is difficult to order separately. Make sure to write the contents right on the menu board. Write on the menu that you must order shaved ice and tea unconditionally together. Don't get angry or laugh at that customers who visit don't understand. If it's difficult for most people to understand, the store should fix it. Employees had to explain again and again, and it felt like this was happening over and over again. Still, the other employees didn't have the worst attitudes like the woman. It's really funny. Green tea and green tea shaved ice taste normal. Have a customer service attitude that matches the price. I felt really bad mood because of her attitude. funny situation. The taste of the green tea may be good, but I would never recommend this shop because of the attitude of a female waitress. With that attitude, wherever you work, work in a place where only Japanese people visit. I'd rather try it elsewhere. The worst store I experienced in my 10-day...
Read more5 stars for the overall experience. 4 stars for the desserts. Each customer has to order at least one dessert. The dessert will come with a drink, e.g. matcha, houjicha, etc. It is like a combo set. There were signs to inform customers to not stay longer than 60 minutes. Ordered: (1) Rikyu Matcha Anmitsu - the soft serve was changed to matcha ice cream. The ice cream was quite good, although I would really love to try the soft serve. The syrup that came with it was sweetish so you could choose whether to add it into the dessert. (2) Rikyu Matcha shaved ice with red bean and milk syrup - this was quite tall, looked amazing. It was a bit sweet though. (3) Matcha - this was OK, like usual matcha. (4) Houjicha (roasted green tea) - this was really fragrant. Came with a teapot with hot water for refills. Prices were definitely on the higher side, no surprises for this type of dessert shop. Desserts were presented nicely and Instagrammable. Loved the ambience in the store. It was at the end of the day and the store did not have many customers so it was quiet and peaceful. The staff was friendly. After we paid, the staff gave us two candies. Because the store was closing, they had to turn down some potential customers who were intending to enter the shop. The staff gave them free candies as a sign of apology. Japanese hospitality...
Read moreI visited this shop on April 11, 2024, around 18:00~19:00 or so.
After a long day of walking around, I was craving some sweets and looking to relax while ordering and enjoying some matcha latte.
The (male) person working at the counter didn't give me a menu, and when I had asked for one, all he did was point at this individual menu and it was in japanese too, I was confused because I wanted to see what other options they had. But before I was going to enter, they had a menu that was outside of the shop too, so I ordered based on what I saw there and after taking my order, I proceeded to take a seat to relax.
It didnt take long to receive my order but after they gave me what I ordered, I was told I wasn't able to sit and stay because it was reversed for "two" people only, and at the time they told me this, I saw a Japanese woman sitting alone at a table too and it got me thinking, why didn't they tell her as well?
Seems like discrimination to me, I was a paying customer, so I should've had the right to sit, at least. Even with the rule enforced of only sitting for 60 minutes.
I hate being disrespected, so this was a horrible experience to go through.
Nonetheless, the food and atmosphere were a solid 5 stars, but given this experience, it automatically dropped to a 1...
