The first thing we noticed when we tried to order was an “appetizer” charge of 1000yen (500*2) which we didn’t order. When we asked the waiter he explained (using a laminated printout, which means this happens a lot I guess), that this is “otoshi” a table charge “which is part of the culture of Japan” (first time I heard of it, and this is the second time for me in Japan, and three weeks into the current trip). The food was average at best, I won’t fault the pizza which we ordered off menu (due to all of the pizzas having toppings we didn’t want), which they did accommodate, hence the second star. But the risotto and steak we ordered specifically due to the positive google reviews, were nothing more than okay. The final bill came out to about 5000yen for 2 people including 1 drink each, which means the mandatory “appetizer” (which we got only one of by the way, and was very small), was about 20% of the bill (or 25% service fee). To be clear, I am fine with having a service fee or order minimum in a restaurant, but marking it is “appetizer” and acting like this is the norm in Japan is dishonest, at the very least note this in the menu or the front of the restaurant. Not sure why this place has such positive reviews, do yourself a favor, give your money to a better restaurant, there are many cheaper restaurants with better...
Read moreWe're visiting from Italy and the risotto was even better than some of the restaurants we ate in our hometown. The fried stuff was delicious, and the fried mice is a must try! Wagyu was also legendary! Kasuga was very friendly, and he explained us each dish to Google Translate and gave us some tips regarding the dishes. They offered us some sauces and explained to us each dish. We were offered fried chips, and he explained the cover fee. This place definitely made our last night in Osaka a memorable one!! It's definitely a must-try place in Osaka, we're very glad we tried this place! I wish all the best to Kasuga, such a young and succesful chef! I'm sure he's going places! Much love from Italy!...
Read moreI'm Italian, and after weeks of Japanese food, I wanted to try something different. I tried a variety of dishes: skewers (pork, shrimp, sausage, fish), bread, mussels, meat, and pasta. Everything was excellent, and this is a rare - if not unique - place abroad where the pasta was cooked "al dente" and had a great taste. I even noticed the chef tasting it - with a separate fork used only once - before serving, which is a good sign of dedication. The waitress was quick, professional, and super charming. Aside from us, the guests weren’t Italian, and the restaurant had a charming feel and a relaxed atmosphere. I wish you the success you truly deserve! Highly...
