That being said, if there were more competition, this restaurant would not survive.
The restaurant was not busy at all when I entered, so I was quickly seated. Then more customers started to come in as peak dinner time approached.
It appeared that there was only a single server taking orders for the entire restaurant. She was particularly chatty with another group of people, giving off an apparent lack of urgency to other customers waiting to order. As a result, I witnessed a table of 8 leaving the restaurant because they weren't being served at all (they’d probably waited 20 minutes by that point).
I started looking at the items on the menu - mostly vegetarian versions of Chinese food. I was definitely not too pleased with the prices; they charged 1100+ yen for cucumber salad (good, but not evenly seasoned at all). There was a family of 3 that came in after me, looked at the menu, and swiftly left. Regardless, I ordered a few dishes in hopes that they would live up to the hefty prices. It took about 30 minutes for the first two dishes to come out. The server did not give me water when I asked. This is not Europe. Water should come by default, even if you don't ask for it.
To be honest, the only good item that came out was the fried rice. I was disappointed with the taste of the fish-fragrant eggplant (stir-fry eggplant in garlic sauce), like, they're so close to China - why can't they get the authentic doubanjiang and actually make it good? The rest of the dishes were mediocre.
Midway through eating, I saw an Ubereats delivery man coming in to pick up an order. I heard some mumbling, something about "sorry....kitchen was busy...". The poor delivery man came in and out multiple times to converse with the server. In the end, he was still waiting downstairs when I left the restaurant 40 minutes later. This just looked so bad. They should not have done Ubereats too if they can't even serve people in the restaurant on time. At least try to get another server and a cook...
Finally, they ONLY ACCEPT CASH.
With the amount I've spent, it would have been better for me to just order 6 portions of plain yakisoba...
Read moreThe food was great. After traveling the last 1.5 weeks we needed vegetables in our food palette. So a search we found this place opened late night. We went based on reviews and was so happy we did. The hype is real, the food is pure Chinese taste which is home made feel. Low on msg even if any as we're sensitive, the selection was good but some items might not be available do to inventory but finding substitution was not hard. There is a vegetarian menu and also a regular menu which has meat and vegetable options. The stand out dish for our group was the Mapo tofu just enough spice kick, eggplant with minced pork, egg with leek, and all vegetables (we had spinach and water spinach). The only unexpected was the ginger chicken, it is not as pictured, it's more of a cold dish deboned chicken thinly sliced service with shredded cucumber, green onion, basically what you'll find on appetizers side of menu, but the taste was still great. All ingredients were super fresh, everything cooked as ordered. There is only 1 staff when we went at night but believe it might be family runned or such, but she was quick and attentive. Don't come here expecting high end table clothed atmosphere as with foreign Chinese restaurants. This is a no frills kind of place with concentration on the food. The place was clean and has a good menu of options to chose from, reasonably priced, and good shared dishes. We had 6 people, ordered 6 dishes and 6 white rice and finished it all. Definitely recommend this place if you need a Chinese fix, Vegetable fix during your...
Read moreWe decided on vegetarian food for our dinner and found this place through a Google Maps search. The lady boss was friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch to our dining experience.
We ordered the fried rice, tomato egg, and braised beancurd. The fried rice was perfectly seasoned, not too salty, and very satisfying. The tomato egg had a slight sweetness to it, which was a pleasant twist. However, the braised beancurd came unexpectedly doused in chili, which was disappointing as it was intended for my kid and the menu did not indicate it would be spicy.
The place offers fuss-free dining, but a revamp of the setting could do wonders for the business, making it more inviting and comfortable for customers. Additionally, the price was higher than expected, which was a bit surprising given the casual dining environment. Note that they only accept cash payments, so be sure to...
