Wakasaya Nankai Namba — Restaurant in Osaka

The price is low enough that I wouldn’t expect the highest quality fish but this place was pretty disappointing. First I asked the staff several questions about what kind of fish was in the bowls because there are only photos with no descriptions and they couldn’t seem to tell me what fish was in each dish. The bowl I received looked nice but the fish was room temp and low quality.

Additionally ( and I hate to point this out) but both staff members reeked of BO and because the establishment is small it was hard to ignore whenever they walked by. It made it pretty hard to eat. We couldn’t wait to get out of there and smell fresh air.

This place very much exceeded my expectations going into it, we went here without any prior info or anything, the place is very small and tight, but the food is good! Very delicious and with reasonable price. We like it better than the fresh fish from Kuromon Market itself!

P.S. This is our second time at this restaurant. We didn’t know it’s a chain! Stumbled across it the first time when we were in Kyoto and we are so glad we did!
