Just visited as it's one of the only bars open before 6pm (18:00). Seems like there was some sort of event going on although there weren't signs that were catered to tourists visiting; from what i saw...there were 3 people sitting outside with signs and not saying or doing much at all so i just walked past. Went in to order a #8 and #9. Two large beers came out to 2,900¥ which is about $20USD which weren't large at all. The clerk did not speak english and referred me to a sign in Japanese, while others in the bar laughed at the fact that I couldn't read the sign (I am learning Japanese, btw...I'm not a self-centered American...don't come for me). I was confronted later by another English speaking staff that we should be paying outside due to the event happening....it was overall rude and shocking as the brewery is in Shibuya; one of the top visited destinations in Tokyo by all people across the globe, to only have signs in Japanese and to laugh at their non-native patrons? The place is a "brewing company" advertising "craft beer." For real, there should be more directive signs in English then if they were changing their standard check out process for this event. They clearly don't want the money or the visitations. I would not recommend this place based on the coldness and ignorance of the staff. Also their mismatched furniture is in poor,...
Read moreThe staff... cold, disinterested, that includes the boss, no prizes for personality. That is a real shame though because aside from Mr. Grumpy and his sidekick Uglykid Grump the place isn’t too bad at all. At least the other punters (customers) liven the place up. :) Thank God! Otherwise you’d find more warmth in a morgue.
Spartan interior, dotted with a few framed / frameless artistic pieces adding a splash of eye treasure to the plain walls. Teeny curiously elemented lights hang down below their wide-brimmed transparent shades casting a low-lit glow on to this establishment’s brewski menu. southwards of 20 of the liquid beauties to push past your larynx, time and wallet strength permitting!
Tasting set of four, which I am sampling as I type this, is available for 2,000 yen. You get to pick your poison, naturally. Left half of the board feature Scandinavian beers, the right side is all Japanese crafties. Stevie Wonder tune pumping happy vibes around the place right now, healing me of the acerbic attitude of the black-capped idiot who served me at the wooden counter.
Oh yeah, to get here... cross the street from Hachiko - the famous doggie statue) head along the Centre Gai street, and just keep going straight until you find it on your left. Next to Tiger Gyōza, (Gyōza are Chinese meat dumplings for the...
Read moreI was waiting for my reservation at a restaurant nearby and should've went by my instinct of not blindly going in some random place but was a hot day and wanted a beer. If i had read the bad reviews from others about this place, would've not went in.
The beer was ok but does not justify the 1600 yen price tag, which is insane even by US standard. The cashier girl working there acts like she's too good to be working there, was rather rude and hardly spoke. I asked her if they will bring the beer to the table since she didn't say to pickup or anything, she seems offended I asked for any service or for her to lift a finger. She did ask if I wanted food to upsell their overpriced food but alas she was too lazy to show me any food menu.
There was no service of any kind and if you are charging this price for a glass of beer, at least bring the drinks and bust the table. Can find better places almost anywhere in tokyo. Don't be a...
