This small, subterranean wine bar, On the Wine, is a hidden gem in Shibuya specializing in Rhône Valley and Burgundy wines. It's run by a duo consisting of a chef and the sommelier/owner, Mr. Onozawa, and serves bistro-style Italian and French dishes. The decor is clean and dimly lit with warm wood tones, accompanied by late 80s/early 90s pop music. The bar seats between 10 to 20 people.

We ordered the seafood genovese and chilled ratatouille, both of which were tastefully plated and served as a perfect complement to the wine. At my personal request, Onozawa-san was kind enough to open a bottle of 2004 Cornas and 2017 Tokaji. Both were in fantastic condition and delicious.

With impeccable service, fine cuisine, and a deep cellar featuring older French wines (10 years plus), On the Wine is highly recommended for any oenophile. I look forward to trying a 20-year-plus Beaujolais on...

A Hidden Gem for Wine Lovers – Intimate, Delicious, and Memorable We had a wonderful evening at this cozy, welcoming wine bar. The food was excellent—more of a tapas-style approach—with each dish thoughtfully prepared behind the bar. Watching our meal being cooked added to the charm and warmth of the experience.

The wine list is beautiful and carefully curated. We selected a 2001 French Pouilly-Fumé—dusty bottle and all—and it turned out to be absolutely fantastic. The owner is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about wine; like any great sommelier, they tasted the wine upon opening to ensure it was in perfect condition before serving it to us. That attention to detail made the evening feel even more special.

This was one of our most intimate and memorable meals of the trip. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great wine, delicious small plates, and a...

5940 yen for a glass of puligny montrachet and french grenache, and a plate of camembert cheese. I would say it is way too overpriced. Granted I never looked at the price of the wines nor asked for how much they were by the glass. The cheese was supposed to be 700 yen according to the menu. That equates to 5240 yen for two glasses of wines? Quite ridiculous and I'm never coming back. Service was good and polite but overall,...
