Asakusa Juraku — Restaurant in Tokyo

Kind of an old person's restaurant, just a little worn but completely clean (one thing you don't generally have to worry about in Japan).

I had the tonkatsu, which was decent. Everyone else thought it was okay too. We had some concern that in prime dining hours the pace was nearly empty (maybe 4-5 tables counting us. I though prices very reasonable too, especially as this is in a busier area.

Big issue was the staff, they were was grouchy to borderline rude and not particularly hospitable. In this case I was running about 10 minutes late and catching up with my family who went in first to get a table. Despite the place being nearly empty they harassed my wife while after she was seated until I got there. I get it if the place is packed and they need to turn tables... but really... Maybe it was just a bad day for the staff, but there are so many other places to eat in this area, you might do better...

We came to this eatery after a long morning walking around asakusa and kappabashi, and this restaurant provided a much needed casual break for us. We had our lunch at about 2pm and surprisingly, there was still a short waiting time. The menu is extensive, with everything from eel to soba, tempura, to omurice. The omurice was delicious, and tempura was not bad, and the soba was really well cooked.

The restaurant itself is a very large establishment with many tables, so I imagine that you can most likely get seated easily even during busier days. The surrounding is very casual, but comfortable. It’s no frills but the food good.

Overall, I would recommend it for anyone who needs a short quick meal break that is also...

A solid cafe with a menu extensive enough to cater to a variety of tastes! We had soba tempura sets and the omurice with curry sauce and katsu. Everything was pretty good. The veg tempura set gets a little oily after a while, especially the large veg "tempura pancake," but I enjoyed it still. The soba was good, as was the omurice. The service was quick and the prices reasonable for the amount of food you get. If you are eating with a group this is a good place to go as they have...
