Asakusa Kimono Rental Yui — Local services in Tokyo

Asakusa Kimono Rental Yui was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. Everyone at the rental was extremely patience and nice. They genuinely seem like kind people. Their selection was large and I can easily see everyone finding something to match their style.

There were two ladies who helped my mother and my daughter with their selection and dressing in their kimono and yukata. They also did the hair and added accessories (bag and shoes) to the outfit.

A gentleman took us around the Asakusa area to take photos. We received a selection of photos from the shoot and we are overall very pleased. We found their package very reasonably priced. I have to mention again how friendly and patient everyone was! I will be recommending this place to anyone who is interested in Kimono Rentals in Tokyo! Please note we made a reservation through their website!

Major Pros for me:

They work with children! I was on a trip with my parents and my kids (three generation trip!) so finding a place that works with children was a top priority. My daughter was 6 at the time and they were extremely kind and patient with her. She had a great time with her kimono and getting photographed.

The gentleman who greeted us at the entrance (and who was also the photographer here) spoke excellent English. I speak very little Japanese so it is always a relief when I find someone who speaks English in Japan!

Some Notes:

If you go out with the traditional Japanese sandals/slippers, it might be worth carrying shoes just because they can be difficult to walk significant distances in, especially for children.

Google maps takes you to an odd side of the building. The rental shop is on the 2nd floor of a building so I would look for a sign showing all the businesses in that building, there will be an elevator at...

We had such a wonderful experience at Asakusa Kimono Rental Yui! From the moment we arrived, Tsuyoshi-san and his team were so kind, helpful, and welcoming. They have so many unique, colorful, and pretty yukatas to choose from! It was difficult ( 難しい !) for me to choose the color wrap for my yukata, but Kyomi and the team were very patient and helpful in choosing the best one for me. They helped us look and feel beautiful and handsome in our yukatas, and made the whole process so easy and enjoyable :)

For the tiny ladies like myself (under 5ft), no worries about the size/length of the yukata! Kyomi and the team were able to adjust the yukata to fit just right ^_^

We booked the couple plan with hairstyling for woman and a location photoshoot since their location is very convenient and near the Senso-ji temple. The photos are absolutely gorgeous — a perfect memory of our first time in Japan. Despite the summer heat, Tsuyoshi-san captured so many lovely moments that we will treasure forever! We received the photos within just a few days, and loved that we got both the edited versions and all of the unedited originals to keep. We also appreciated the option to add an extra day rental to our couple plan since we were attending a hanabi festival that evening — it was so convenient to return everything the next day during business hours

a true hidden gem! I highly recommend Yui Kimono if you want to have an authentic experience wearing a beautiful, high-quality kimono for a very modest price. I was very pleased with the rental service and took many memorable pictures in Asakusa.

The staff at Yui Kimono made me feel very welcomed and comfortable as a foreign solo traveller. Kyomi-san was very attentive and had amazing attention to detail when dressing me and styling my hair. She was also very patient with me when I was choosing the Obi and other accessories.

All the kimonos were beautiful and of very high quality, which made it difficult for me to choose. The accessories were just as plentiful and exquisite. There were plenty to choose from, even though I booked a 2 p.m. appointment. Other kimono rentals seemed to have limited options if you booked for an appointment later in the day.

The shop also had the perfect location. It’s a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Station and about an 8-minute walk to Sensoji Temple. I had plenty of time to take pictures and explore the many shops and snacks around the temple.

This was, hands down, the highlight of my Tokyo trip! I hope to return again in the future! Thank you very much to the lovely...
