Chinese Cafe Eight Aoyama — Restaurant in Tokyo

I've long frequented the Shinjuku location, never had an issue. But my experience last night has inspired me to write my first ever restaurant review. I can't recall the last time I had such a disappointing dinner.

My order of eggplant and garlic, clearly came out of the microwave. (I guess they thought I wouldn't figure out why some of it was piping hot and extremely cold at the same time)

The waitress was in the kitchen using her hands picking things out of a bowl to put on the plate, there was no hand washing anywhere to be seen (granted kitchen staff don't often wash their hands when only touching food) but she was on the floor and in the kitchen (no hand washing)

Chef..who I encountered in the restroom, hacking up a lung from the sound of it, goes back in the restaurant to continue hacking and spits directly on to the floor in the kitchen ( you probably shouldn't have an open view kitchen with this type of behavior)

It may not sound like much, but it's enough to ensure I'll never go back to this particular location. Oh an everyone seemed to be miserable, I know it was a national holiday but wow.

The incredibly rude cretins who run this place are too ignorant to even state clearly when Peking Duck is or isn’t available on their website and flyers (and forget verbal information - all the ‘staff’ can manage is a grudging neanderthal grunt at best). As their duck is the sole reason why most people venture into this flea-ridden cesspit in the first place, it is liable to be a totally wasted journey - somewhat akin to crawling into a hobo’s urine-stinking hovel in the hopes of scrounging a cigarette, only to find out that he’s given up smoking for part of each day. You hastily leave, utterly disappointed and with the distinct impression that you’ve just picked up some highly unpleasant skin disease. I didn't have any cash, and I saw the card mark at the entrance and went in, but I was embarrassed because they said I could only pay in cash in the middle of the meal. When I told them I had no cash, they accepted my card payment. Since then, the kitchen has not turned on the ventilator for more than half an hour, so the smoke is full.
