Visited this branch of Kagari Ramen at around 8 PM. Had a very short queue before being able to sit inside. One key thing to note is that this place only accepts cashless payments!! Initially, me and my brother was kind of disheartened thinking we wont be able to try this famous chicken-broth ramen since our credit card was not accepted by the payment terminal. Fortunately, a fellow customer was kind enough to process the payment for us with her card (we gave her the cash equivalent).
The payment-drama side, entering the place would greet you with a strong scent of truffle which they use on their truffle infused chicken broth ramen. It'll definitely rouse your appetite.
For the food itself, I ordered the truffle chicken broth ramen (around 1,370 yen) and it took awhile before it came out (around 10-15 minutes) but the presentation was quite splendid. The golden coloured, thick broth tasted extremely rich, and the chasiu chicken slices accompanying it was so juicy, tender and filled to the brim with umami (I suggest you order additional chasiu chicken slices, an additional 500ish yen if I'm not wrong). The ramen itself was the thin type, but it remains firm and soaks in all the rich flavor of the chicken broth. Truly a nice warm bowl of ramen on a rainy night at Roppongi.
I am rating this place a 4 star as, I still prefer other broth base (e.g., miso/pork based ramen). Its a good ramen for sure but it all depends on preference when it comes to the choice of broth really.. Nevertheless, I would still recommend giving this...
Read moreArrived at 9.30pm on a Monday and it was packed, plus there was a queue of 3 groups ahead of me and 3 groups behind me. They close at 11pm but last order is 10pm. This shop is cashless only but there are many options to pay such as tapping credit card or IC card.
I didn’t have to wait long to enter and also to receive my order of toripaitan ramen with egg and cha shu. The broth was so good, I did not expect toripaitan to have such deep flavours, similar to tonkatsu, it was as rich and as creamy as tonkatsu but had a cleaner/lighter finish to it. People who don’t like the heaviness of tonkotsu ramen would really appreciate this. The noodles were medium thickness but were firm and springy. The chicken breast was tender but did not have much taste on its own. The egg was perfectly cooked with an oozy yolk and I could taste the soy sauce marinate as it was well marinated. The cha shu was interesting because it tasted like salt brined pork, giving the pork a deep saltiness, not unlike pastrami. It wasn’t bad but I personally wouldn’t order it again.
Definitely a very good bowl of ramen where the star is the toripaitan soup. You can taste the umami from the mushrooms and kelp come through too to strike a...
Read moreGinza Kagari at Tokyo Midtown Roppongi was a hidden gem during our winter trip — we were lucky to walk right in with no queue, unlike the famous flagship in Ginza. The ramen here is exceptional. Their signature chicken paitan broth is creamy yet delicate, full of depth, and just perfect on a cold day. The noodles were springy, the toppings simple and elegant. It felt like a Michelin-level ramen experience, but without the fuss or wait. This branch is tucked away inside the Tokyo Midtown complex, making it easy to access and a great option for a quick, high-quality meal in Roppongi.
That said, it’s a very small shop — about 18 counter seats — and not particularly suited for families with strollers or toddlers. There’s no space to park a stroller inside, and no high chairs. We made it work by folding our stroller and keeping it outside near the entrance, but it’s definitely more comfortable if your child can sit independently and stay calm in a compact setting. Ordering is done via vending machine, with an English menu available, and staff were polite and efficient. Food arrived quickly, and the whole meal was done within 30 minutes — perfect for a fast lunch or...
