I decided to visit the restaurant again since I was back in Tokyo and to give the benefit of doubt to the owner for a miscommunication. Well, this time the owner told me in no uncertain terms in English, that the only dinner item on the English menu is the most expensive all-you-can-eat sushi item. When asked explicitly about the nigiri sushi option, I was given (again in no uncertain terms) that this is not available. There was no "lost in translation" problem. I was given a firm, "No", since it is not on the English menu but is advertised on the signboard in front of the restaurant in Japanese. I earlier said that I was unlikely to return, now it is I will never return since there are more friendlier and welcoming restaurants elsewhere.
Original Post: Unfortunately the restaurant has become non-Japanese unfriendly. Before COVID, I would come here to eat their 12 selection (which is actually 14 pieces) since it was close to my hotel. I would walk in and let the greeter know that I couldn't speak Japanese (the greeter speaks English) and let him know what I wanted to order (as described above). He would bring the English list of the seasonal selection and I would make my choices. The food was freshly made on order and reasonably priced (it is still offered). I would eat and leave a happy camper.
I made my first trip to Japan post-COVID restrictions yesterday and headed for the restaurant my first night back for dinner. Same greeter as before and I told him that I didn't speak Japanese. He responded in English that they've changed their "policy" and the only menu item I could order was their highest cost all-you-can-eat option. Since that was not something that I was interested in doing, I left and went somewhere else.
So I don't know the reason for the "policy" change, but this is certainly bad news and in my opinion very non-Japanese unfriendly. It is unlikely that I will return...
Read moreFirst time I was there it was reservation only but the restaurant was empty.
The next day I had a reservation and I saw people getting denied for having no reservation while the seats were never occupied.
The food wasn’t anything special, the rice was tasty but the fish was too thin. After placing the first order(20 pieces at a time) they took too long to serve the second order so in the end of the 90 minutes available we could only order 4 times.
Maybe we messed up because I don’t know if I could have ordered 20 pieces per person since we were two people. Then it should be fine.
Still i don’t think it’s worth the price since it’s fish to rice ratio is too small.
The staff was really friendly...
Read moreIt’s very bad experience. We felt be ripped off because we were the visitor who couldn’t speak Japanese. Due to long holiday in Japan, most restaurants closed, we got in at 8pm then the waitress said they currently serve only one option - ‘’13 pc nigiri sushi combination’’. Well, a mother, worried her kid might be hungry, had no choice. There were only two nigiri sushi were fully cooked that the child could eat, the rest came with raw fish nigiri sushi. Most reason made me feel bad was I saw other customers orders single nigiri sushi not the...
