I’ve been searching for a sushi restaurant that had omakase and I managed to stumble upon this place. Even after reading the reviews that explained where to find the entrance, my friends and I still managed to get lost. Turns out the entrance to head down to the basement is located right behind a spiral staircase, right next to an elevator.
We didn’t make a reservation when we came and luckily, we got there right before they opened and were the second in line. And since we arrived before any large crowds, we got lucky and were sat down near the bar area and was told that we had an hour slot. We all unanimously decided to go with the 5000 yen omakase.
Omakase items in order: 4 piece sashimi Tuna and mackerel nigiri on seasoned rice Steamed egg with mushrooms 4 piece nigiri (scallop, squid, and I’m unsure what the other two were) 2 nigiri (shrimp and tuna) and 2 gunkan maki (salmon roe and uni) 2 maki rolls, tamago, seared nigiri
Overall, the omakase was delicious and filling. My personal favorites were the gunkan maki and the sashimi. Everything tasted fresh and all the flavors balanced one another. I definitely recommend coming here to grab some delicious sushi for...
Read moreWe opted for the seasonal Omakase option (15000¥) for 18 courses. Since it was seasonal, there is no indication on the menu on what you’ll be getting, and how many. Please note that it is not a guarantee that you will get a seat at the counter, or be seated directly beside your friend. Although it was a special occasion for my friend (I indicated in the booking notes), we got a corner seat at the counter where the positioning is like an ‘L’ shape. There was no give in allowing us to switch places even though we arrived early and all the seats were empty and I thought perhaps a big group booked the rest of the seats and therefore could not be separated, but everyone else turned up in pairs as well.
This does not reduce my ratings as it’s a request and not an expectation, but if you’re particular about having a bespoke/personalised experience (which is what most people who pay for an Omakase would enjoy) this is most definitely not the place for you. The service is not as hospitable as other cheaper places I’ve been to in Japan. No frills, no extras.
Quality food, expect classic fresh ingredients. It’s good, but nothing life changing where I’d...
Read moreWent there seeing some great videos about the place. Had the omakase lunch, was severely disappointed. Food was a 7/10, but the communication and the presentation brought it down to a 6/10 for me. Only one of the chefs (the older one) bothered explaining what was served. The younger shorter one just placed the food on the counter and walked off. The quality control of the food was subpar, for one of the rolls it was clear that the ingredients were not evenly spaced out. Two of the rolls barely had any fish in it, and were mostly pickles. I wish I got a photo when the conger eel sushi was served, it was so badly made the eel had broken into two pieces, but by that point I was too disappointed and just wanted the meal to be over. The wait staff (waitresses) were really polite and kind, I only wish the chefs had been a little more professional. Am glad I tried it, but wouldn't be recommending it to anyone...
