It was a pretty disappointing experience. The staff seemed to have worked in a tourist area for too long — they didn’t even make eye contact with foreign visitors, and their greetings lacked any warmth. In fact, I even felt a little sorry for them, as if the endless stream of tourists had completely drained their energy.
As soon as I placed my order and looked around, what caught my attention were the warning signs plastered everywhere. Messages like: “Do not eat in front of the shop, go 30–40m away to the bench in front of Uniqlo,” or “Do not throw away trash from other places in our garbage bins.”
Of course, I understand that with the overwhelming number of careless tourists these days, such rules are absolutely necessary. But the tone of the signs felt unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. One downside was the eating situation. You’re not allowed to eat inside or directly outside the shop, so you have to find a bench or seating nearby. Even standing quietly to eat was not allowed. It can be a bit inconvenient to buy snacks in the Sensoji area, especially food that needs to be eaten right away and on the spot.
Overall, it’s worth trying if you’re a fan of...
