I'm happy to see that after so many years, the food is still as delicious as ever. The slight crispiness of the pork cutlets along with their sauce and the fluffy egg just goes so well with their rice. The whole combination is so satisfying and just makes me crave for more with every bite. Even though the prices have gone up to 1500 yen a bowl, I still feel like it's worth it. I'm really happy for the business that they became so popular now but I also feel a bit sad because I have to wait around 30 minutes in line everytime I want to eat here now. The small restaurant only has 8 seats so there's always a waiting line but the food is also served as soon as you get a seat so it's not too bad.
It's amazing how refined their bowl of Katsudon can be. From the crunchiness of the pork cutlet to the exquisite flavours of the sauce, it's simply amazing how satisfying this one bowl can be. The sauce pairs so well with the pork and the rice, while the crunchy pork cutlet with the juicy and flavourful interior also goes so well with the rice. Every element in this bowl complements each other so amazingly and it just brings the food to another level. The service is also polite and fast. This cozy little restaurant is easily one of my favourite restaurant. Be careful though, it is a small restaurant with only around 8 seats so you will most likely have to wait in line for a seat. The wait is most definitely worth it and my words just can't explain how wonderful their food is. (2 years ago)
Simple, fast and delicious. Only one item in the menu where you choose the size only but it is a very delicious bowl of rice with fried pork cutlet....

A place that specialized in katsudon! Oh boy was I excited to try this place. Pretty small seating space. Seems like a mom and pop shop. Went for a late lunch, there was no line. Ordered the large serving for 1,000yen.
Katsudon: Tasted great, slightly too sweet, imo. The katsu was perfectly crispy even after the addition of the egg and sauce they pour on at the end. Unfortunately, the katsu is really thin... The rice was drenched at the bottom, a negative to me. The sauce (soy sauce, mirin, etc) probably housemade, was sweet, but not disgustingly so. If they poured less of it on my bowl of katsudon, I might've liked it more.
Pork Skin Soup with Somen: This along with tsukemono (which was regular) came with my order of katsudon. A one-note flavor. Although not bad, it's nothing amazing. At least it will warm you up before the katsudon arrives.
Conclusion: Pretty disappointed. Was hoping it'd hit the top of my katsudon list, but no. Still a decent katsudon, but I expected a lot more from a specialty store. I even ordered two large servings, to be absolutely sure I wasn't missing something...
Would I go back? No. For the price I could get a better katsudon that comes with free refills of cabbage and soup.
Do I recommend this place? No. Unless you really love katsudon and want to give each place your...
Read moreThis is the best Katsudon in town! We arrived at 2:30, and the line was quite long (which to me just proves how great this place is). While in line, the young lady at the front will approach everyone and has a reservation list where you can sign up for the next available slot. There’s only one dish on the menu (katsudon), and they take your order while you wait in line, so it's ready when you sit down. She will also check if you’d like extra egg for an additional ¥100 and offer you beer, though I can’t recall the price of the beer. CASH ONLY! This arrangement works perfectly for us, as we can pass the time at Mega Don Quijote, which is just a 7-min walk. You need to return 10 minutes before your scheduled time, and the young lady will confirm your reservation and seat you.
The restaurant is quite small, accommodating only 8 people, which is why there's a waiting line and the need for reservations. But let me tell you, IT WAS THE BEST KATSU DON WE EVER HAD; we finished it in less than 7 minutes! Your meal comes with a delicious broth soup and a small tea. The staff is incredibly friendly! We will def come back!
Just a reminder to everyone who wants to dine here: taking photos or videos of the staff and their kitchen can be disrespectful to them. Please be considerate and...
