We were told this was one of Tokyo’s oldest and high-end sushi restaurants, so we had to give it a try. While the Ginza location was fully booked, we managed to secure a reservation at their Shinjuku branch.

We liked the traditional Japanese touches: waitresses in kimonos, shoes off at the entrance, and a modern twist on tatami seating (no kneeling needed—you sit comfortably with leg space).

We chose the 10-course omakase, but I felt they served more than that. Every dish was exquisitely presented and incredibly fresh. The balance of flavors was spot-on. My personal favorite was the squid—it literally melts in your mouth. The shrimp was also impressively fresh, and the miso soup, packed with clams, might be the best I’ve had. The meal ended with a smooth cup of matcha tea.

All in all, it’s not just a dinner—it’s an experience. While some of the sushi I’ve had at Tsukiji might rival or even exceed the taste, the artistry and atmosphere here make it a memorable and...

Everything about this experience was fantastic. I’ve eaten a decent amount of sushi but I’m nowhere near a connoisseur so Kyubey was the perfect introduction to what the upper bounds of sushi experiences could be.

The staff were courteous to a fault, the space formal but friendly (it didn’t even register that it was in a hotel), and the whole meal felt like eating from a grandfather who also happened to be extremely good at their craft. You find yourself wanting to take photos of every dish, but being in the moment and enjoying it with all senses was more than enough.

Don’t listen to the naysayers who say there are better omakase experiences out there. There probably are, but this place is approachable and affordable, which might not be the case at...

Awesome experience. We sat in a semi private room. There were two other groups in the room with us. There were multiple chefs and each one is just focused on one group for the whole meal.

It was fun watching him prepare the food and looking forward to the flavors and textures coming our way. I really liked the raw shrimp along with the fried head. The fried fish bone near the end was also neat. My husband who never like eel before actually like the eel here.

The chef was friendly and engaged with us through the meal. We even got to wear a chef's hat at the end...

Kyubey Keio Plaza Tokyo was recommended by the hotel where we stayed in our last visit to Tokyo; let me tell you that this was a great recommendation. Sushi was excellent, and the atmosphere and service were as well. We didn’t get to sit at the private tables, but if you make a reservation in advance, it probably will be worth it. This is a high-end restaurant, so plan accordingly. We didn’t mind because the experience was worth it. We definitely would be back if we were ever in Japan again.

Highly recommended. Great food! Great atmosphere! A luxury but delicious experience. We have a wonderful time enjoying a 16 set Nigiri Menu - Kyubey. Our dining room is a cosy 13 seats semi round table, with 2 dedicated traditional Japanese sushi master chefs. You will get to admire how they prepare your food under their professional hands. Each piece is quality and selected from the kitchen. All are well explained (limited english) with recommendation from the chef.
