Teppan-Yaki YAMANAMI — Restaurant in Tokyo

Teppan-Yaki Yamanami at the Keio Plaza in Tokyo is absolutely fantastic! After reading glowing reviews about both the food and the stunning view, I decided to book a reservation for a nighttime meal, and I’m so glad I did. The food was exquisite. I had a salad to start, followed by a Wagyu steak meal—and let me tell you, the Wagyu beef was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The portions were on the smaller side, but considering it’s a fine dining spot, I expected that. It’s all about quality, not quantity.

Finding the restaurant was a little tricky at first, as it’s tucked away, but after some wandering, I eventually found it. Once I was seated, the experience got even better. The chef assigned to me spoke some English and was super friendly, engaging me in conversation and even asking me a few questions, which added a personal touch to the meal. Watching the chef cook the food right in front of you was a real highlight—there’s something special about seeing your meal prepared with such precision and care.

The Wagyu beef was incredibly flavorful, and the way it was cooked to perfection was impressive. It truly lived up to the hype. The bathrooms down the hall were also very clean, which is always a nice bonus in any restaurant.

This place is perfect for both dining with friends or enjoying a solo meal. When I went, it was quiet and peaceful (probably because I was one of the first customers of the night), which made the whole experience even more relaxing. This is my 4th time in Tokyo and before finding this restaurant, I've never had authentic Japanese Teppanyaki. My first impression was that the ambiance is amazing! The dark wood minimalist look, large windows with a view of Metropolitan Building and it's surrounding greenery! I can tell that my cook was very skilled when preparing my lobster, vegetable and wagyu beef meal. Even how he fried big slices of garlic perfectly to a thin crisp was mesmerizing! Above all the food taste fantastic! Perfectly seasoned seafood, and the beef was rich and delicately dashed with real wasabi! We are there to celebrate my birthday and definitely was one of the best memories I’m gonna have.

The staff were so kind and attentive. Was in for some sake and they introduced a few to us for beginners.

We order 1 x beef set and 1 x seafood set with lobster. It was sooooooo good!

Chef was good too! Prob due to language barrier, wasn’t able to communicate much. But he did try his best to introduce the diff types of ingredients that we are going to have. 🫡

But the bill was very pretty too 🫠

Definitely recommend for special occasions or celebrations. You won’t regret it!
