Shinjuku Post Office — Local services in Tokyo

Came here to send my mt fuji climbing stick back to Singapore. I previously went to the post office in osaka but they couldn't help.

Shinjuku post office immediately knew what to do when they saw me with the stick. Even though there was a slight language barrier the counter lady was very helpful.

While her colleague bubble wrapped the stick she assisted me in creating the shipping label. Total cost was about 1900+400 yen (bubble wrap). Cheapest shipping EMS, the stick will probably reach home faster than me.

Shipped all my goodies with the medium sized parcel box from Shinjuku to California for under 9000 yen (less than $60 usd at that time for 9 kg). I sent it in late May and it arrived in second week of August. So about 10 weeks time. The post office worker didn't speak English, but was helpful in preparing my package for delivery. We posted 4 packages back to Australia during two separate visits to this post office. Staff on both occasions were beyond fantastic and helpful even with some language barriers. They have some English speaking staff and also use translator devices. All staff were very accomodating and helped us to fill out the necessary forms correctly and showed us what to do.
