Dining at Nagatacho Ohka is an incredibly special experience. The attention to detail is palpable, from the table setting and decor to the service and, of course, the food!
It is exclusively available by reservation, which elevates the "members only" feeling of the evening. However, I did not feel unwelcome or out of place, in fact, it was one of the most welcoming establishments I have ever dined in.
The staff catch your eye when you break from conversation and smile back, and the chefs personally show you the ingredients for the evening, walking you through every dish they will be serving that night (a selection that changes every couple of weeks). There's no pressure to eat anything you are unsure of or unable to eat due to dietary restrictions — I said I couldn't eat shellfish and alternative options were offered.
I really want to talk through the whole experience but I will not to ensure your first visit is magical! What I will say is that you can somehow fit a dozen dishes in your meal and still feel like you want more.
A truly unforgettable experience that I would love to repeat upon my next...
Read moreA truly remarkable sensorial experience that delights both visually and gastronomically. The location is stunning, showcasing exceptional attention to detail in the design. From the ground floor to the private dining rooms, every space reflects meticulous craftsmanship, using unique materials to create an elegant and distinctive atmosphere.
The culinary team is top-notch, featuring chefs with experience at world-renowned establishments such as Joël Robuchon and Pierre Gagnaire. The meal begins with a few classic touches like hors d’oeuvres, but the real highlight is the freedom to choose from a wide array of premium ingredients—meat, fish, and vegetables—which are then prepared in the style of your choice: French, Chinese, Japanese, or Italian. Impressively, when I casually mentioned Indian cuisine midway through the meal, they surprised me later with one of my favorite dishes—without me even asking again.
The hospitality is equally outstanding, from the kitchen to the dining hall. Every detail feels thoughtful and personalized. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an exceptional...
Read moreA disappointing dinner which is basically a set menu everyone gets, instead of a personalized culinary experience. Food was good but not amazing, nothing was exceptional.
Restaurant is beautiful.
Service…friendly but didn’t feel genuine. As the night went on it felt more like an act. We almost were served the people sitting to my right’s bottle of wine instead of our bottle of sake that was sitting in front of my husband. Seeing other guests finish their meal and were leaving to go to another room to have dessert, we were expecting to do this, too, but instead got left behind with one other group to have our dessert in the same room we had our dinner. Not sure how the restaurant decided who got to go and who didn’t. The server didn’t have an answer when asked. Instead we got a tour of some of the rooms.
Definitely not a top notch experience, especially if you dine at really great fine dining restaurants. I really wouldn’t recommend this place, sadly. You can get really delicious food and have a better experience elsewhere for much, MUCH less the cost...
