We booked our reservation through Pocket Concierge for a lunch sushi omakase last March while visiting Tokyo. Unfortunately, we had a misunderstanding regarding our booking date and the day which it fell on as it was made while we were still in Canada. As a result, we missed our reservation. Just an hour after we missed it, we received an email and immediately tried contacting the restaurant and Pocket Concierge. We explained the misunderstanding and requested a new booking for the next day or any available date while we were still in Tokyo.
Pocket Concierge said they would try to assist, but rebooking would depend on the chef’s acceptance. Given that there are very few seats available for omakase and that missing a booking typically results in wasting both a spot and the ingredients prepared, we sincerely apologized for the misunderstanding and requested a new reservation.
To our surprise, and thanks to the kindness of the staff—especially the chef himself—we were accepted to return the next day without having to make a new payment for our omakase.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the chef and the staff for their kindness and beautiful gesture.
We had been eagerly looking forward to this experience, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the setting of the restaurant, including the decoration and flower arrangements done by the chef himself, to the unique, kind, yet highly professional hosting of the hostess and the sushi master's apprentice, every aspect left us speechless. It was one of the best culinary experiences we've had so far.
We specifically chose this sushi restaurant for the great chef, the sushi style and its unique location. The restaurant is situated in a distinctive area with many government buildings—not your typical sushi restaurant setting in central Tokyo. The surroundings were quiet, clean, and framed by tall government towers.
The building itself was an older, traditionally designed two level building, contrasting beautifully with its modern environment. Walking into the restaurant felt magical. The interior design, lighting, choice of colors, furniture, and tableware exuded a serene, Zen-like, and artistic atmosphere.
We were able to choose our sake ware from many unique and vintage/antique sake sets hand-picked by the chef.
We tried two different sakes, both of which were absolutely delicate and delicious.
Every piece of sushi we had was stunning, crafted to perfection with mastery. The rice used was delicately chosen and seasoned with various vinegars, enhancing the flavor of each piece of seafood magnificently.
There were many highlights during our lunch experience, but one of the most memorable was the use of citrus peel (Yuzu, if I am not mistaken) on some of the nigiri by the chef. My favorites were the Saba and mackerel/sardine family nigiri with hints of yuzu flavor. It was phenomenal.
It was a true privilege to watch the master sushi chef perform his art in his environment, interacting seamlessly with his apprentice and hostess. Their collective skill, talent, and dedication are products of years of experience and hard work.
It is also important to note that the chef spoke very good English, and we did not experience any discrimination towards us or any other tourists or local customers. Even though some tourists had their phones out throughout the meal, filming and taking photos—which disrupted the otherwise Zen-like atmosphere—the hostess, staff, and chef remained gracious and accommodating.
To respect the chef and the staff, we refrained from taking any photos of the food or the chef
We would definitely return and highly recommend this amazing place to anyone looking for an amazing sushi...
Read moreI did have the Omakase sushi experience here on July 2024. I reserved two seats here (for me and my partner) almost 2 months before via Pocket Concierge service offered by American Express and dedicated to Amex credit card holders. Overall the experience was great. As per Omakase standard experience, there were only 7/8 available seats in front of the main counter where the chef prepared each nigiri, explaining the fish and main ingredients used. The quality of fish used was great and the combination of ingredients used was able to exalt the taste of each single nigiri fish. This is a fine dining experience which costed around 40,000 yen (including beverages) with 16 courses and 1 dessert (lunch option). The only letdown was the chef English explanation that was not super clear in detailing the fish used and sometimes the English was tough to understand due to strong Japanese accent. I would have appreciated having some written documentation to support courses preparation and further improve...
Read moreI recently indulged in a lunch Omakase course that was truly exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, enhanced by elegant interior design.
The ginger was perfectly sliced, serving as a refreshing palate cleanser between courses. I particularly savored the sanma, toro, and Japanese amberjack sushi—each bite was a delightful explosion of umami.
Although I typically don’t favor sardines and sweet shrimp on sushi, the chef prepared and seasoned them to perfection, making me genuinely appreciate both.
The rice was sublime; I’m still amazed at how the chef achieves such perfection. It was fragrant, with just the right balance of acidity, saltiness, and texture.
Additionally, you have the option to request any sushi you desire. I couldn’t resist ordering an extra hokkigai to cap off my meal, and it was the perfect...
