I wanted to introduce my Japanese friend to Indonesian food so we went to Plataran as I thought it’s an original branch from Plataran in Indonesia and the place looks nice. We wanted to get the roast beef course menu but unfortunately the roast beef was not available and also the types of nasi goreng/mie goreng we could choose were limited two in contrast to the 6 that were listed in the menu so we ended up getting the chicken course menu. Unfortunately, the waiters do not seem to know much about what the menus are as we asked them about the menus and drinks. As I tried the food one by one, I can say that even though the food is good but for people who are looking for authentic Indonesian food, this may not be the ideal place. What disappoints me more is that there seems to be no proper timing as to how the food comes out. I was hoping they would get the food out one by one but at some point three types of food came out at the same time, making some of the food turns cold already by the time we can eat them. Now that is one problem, another is that we were left waiting for the next food to show up for around at least 20minutes. This makes us kinda stop being hungry already and can’t really enjoy the next food that were served (it was the main dishes and we couldn’t eat them well). Because we were left waiting for a long time, we spent a long time in the restaurant because we were trying hard to finish the food. But the waiter rushed us to payment and not long after the waiter told us that the next customers are already waiting. I saw there were still empty tables and nobody is waiting outside for their turns, so I am disappointed how we were rushed like that when it was our food that took so long to come out in the first place. Overall, I am disappointed mostly in the service more than the food. I hope you will improve the service and I hope one day I can visit Plataran again and leave with a happier...
Read moreEvery time I went to Plataran, I always wondered why the taste of all the food here does not like any Indonesian taste. The turmeric rice set we ordered last time was more South Asian cuisine than Indonesian. The cumin and cardamom taste was so strong on the satay. People in Indonesia usually don't use cumin and cardamom for making satay. Then, the nasi goreng was also not Indonesian nasi goreng. We never fry nasi goreng using turmeric rice. The rendang was too sweet. The perkedel jagung has no taste at all. The kangkung stir fry was delicious. But it was overpriced. 250 yen for a little topping of kangkung stir fry was too expensive. The coconut ice cream was delicious but again, overpriced. The pisang goreng was overpriced, 300 yen for 3 small pieces only, and wasn't that good taste. If you are looking for Indonesian taste here, you won't find it in this restaurant. The food is okay, delicious but not outstanding. But just the taste is bothering me. It's not an Indonesian taste, it's more like a South Asia taste. Maybe because the chef is not from Indonesia, but India (or other South Asia countries). And the prices are overpriced the place is quite good. Please do not use Indonesian restaurants if you cannot present an authentic or close enough to an...
Read moreFor those who are looking for Indonesian restaurant, look elsewhere. There is nothing Indonesian here. Was surprised on seeing no Indonesian customer (and staff) at the place. The only Indonesian thing was the Bintang beer. Reviewing neutrally. The gado-gado (Indonesian vegetable salad) sauce was from a store-shelve instant sauce (literally, the bottle was on each table). The nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice) didn’t taste like Indonesian fried rice and was spicy by default. The fried chicken was just Japanese karaage with Thai sauce. Even one of the simple Indonesian satay isn’t in the menu. I guess my expectation was too high and was disappointed by the food. Even what I ordered looked different than what the photos. The service was good, the server was quick to respond to any order/question. The place was quite beautifully designed. Just a waste the food isn’t good. Indonesian food? Not here. One star for the very helpful server. Otherwise, get your Indonesian food elsewhere.
