Well, if I could write a sonnet about this place, I would. Old showa-style izakaya, with a lovely atmosphere. We walked past a few times, toying with the idea of sitting down, but the place seemed full. Walked by again after 20 minutes and two places became free, so we ventured in. We ordered the famous nikomi, soft tofu+beef tendon stew, kimchi, and simmered fern with meat, bamboo, and konnyaku. All were excellent, but the nikomi is out of this world! I had a chat with the owner, it seems that the place has been opened for 70 years, he gave us a book about Showa's Tokyo that features this restaurant. It was started by the owner's father and he (the current owner) has been doing it for 50 years. Prices are very reasonable. They sell Sapporo beer that goes well with nikomi. The food was generally on the more saltier side (we also had the boiled radish) but this place is more for grabbing a couple of drinks and having a few nibbles/sides to compliment it. Great place to take a break from all the walking around Asakusa. Located near the main walking street, a humble restaurant with just a handful of seats. The flavours were sublime, service instant and food of fantastic flavour and quality.
