We were staying near by and saw the positive reviews so thought we would give the place a try. Overall I would have to give this only a 3 our of 5. The place was very cute. The food was good, though not better then some places I ate for significantly less money, and the service was good . I had to take points for three main items. First the dessert was literally a tomato. It was a good tomato but not really what I would consider a dessert. Second, it was very expensive for what it was. There were three of us (2 men and a 14 year old girl). We paid well over $400 (USD) with no alcohol. They had 3 sets A, B and C, we each got a different set. Third it was not much food for the price. Everyone left still hungry and ended up going to 7-11 for snacks afterwords. I do struggle with the review because it looked nice and the staff was nice but I can't see giving it the glowing reviews I have read here. I had eaten at a different sushi restauarant in Kyoto the previous night which I though was better and much less expensive. It isn't a bad place at all, as a matter of fact I liked it, but just know what you are...
Read moreMy wife and I found this place after our other choice for our last dinner in Japan had too long of a wait, and we are both very glad that it did. There was only two other couples in the restaurant when we got there. There was a bit of a language barrier, the staff only spoke limited English, but with Google translate and broken English, everyone was able to communicate just fine.
It was a very intimate experience with the chiefs preparing all our sushi right in front of us. They even had sushi fish books that they would then show us what the fish was, and which topping to use with each (wasabi, vinegar, soy sauce, etc). It was a curated and guided meal that was probably our best meal/experience during our 10 day trip to Tokyo/Kyoto. It was a bit pricey, we got meal B which was about $200 per person, but it was worth...
Read moreBlown away buy this unpretentious little traditional Sushi restaurant. Only 9 counter seats, no menu because none is needed. The 2 Sushi chefs will delight you with melt in your mouth delicious Treats, preparing them one by one and explaining how to eat them, with what sauce, the name of the fish and it’s origin. The chef even gave me a book to read, to supplement his limited but good English and drew a map to show where exactly the Sea Urchin came from in Hokkaido. Some of the best Sushi I’ve ever had (including in Japan). Nice atmosphere. If you don’t eat certain things just tell them and they’ll tailor the menu to your taste. Bill came out just under $100.- which was worth every cent, but obviously isn’t in...
