A short walk from Roppongi Station, take the elevator up and you’ll step into the stylish, modern Japanese space of SUSHIROKU. At the center of the restaurant, a vibrant, colorful bonsai takes the spotlight, adding a playful touch to the sleek interior. On this visit, almost every table around us was filled with international guests, giving the place a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
We enjoyed the Short Course (¥9,900), featuring premium cuts of Kuroge Wagyu beef and the finest bluefin tuna from Yamayuki, one of Japan’s most renowned wholesalers.
Pokédon The first dish to arrive was the playful “Pokédon,” served in a Poké Ball-shaped vessel crafted from 100% tin by the famous Toyama metalware brand Nousaku. Inside, a luxurious mix of bluefin tuna and Kuroge Wagyu toro beef over rice. Lift the lid and you’ll find a hidden Pikachu silhouette at the bottom—an unexpected and charming surprise.
Shabu-shabu Thin slices of rare Kuroge Wagyu cuts—Ichibo, Nakaniku, and Shikinbo—served chilled with fresh vegetables. Three dipping sauces were offered: ponzu, sesame, and a rich anchovy-garlic sauce, the latter being my personal favorite.
Tuna Nigiri Sushi Three pieces: chutoro (medium fatty tuna), akami (lean tuna), and marinated akami—each showcasing the superior quality and melt-in-your-mouth texture of Yamayuki tuna.
Today’s Special A mini “Maguro Burger”—fresh tuna with mustard mayo in a soft bun. Bite-sized, easy to eat, and full of flavor.
Grilled Sushi Seared Kuroge Wagyu sushi with the same three rare cuts as the shabu-shabu. Rich, smoky, and exceptionally tender.
Seasonal Nigiri Sushi A trio of scallop, kampachi, and salmon—each fresh and bursting with seasonal flavor.
Miso Soup Seafood broth with a whole prawn head, infusing the soup with deep umami.
Dessert & Matcha A delicate mizumochi (water mochi) followed by a cup of matcha to finish.
Although it was the “short” course, we paired it with sake and left feeling completely satisfied. Personally, I enjoy international-style sushi restaurants abroad, and SUSHIROKU’s fusion of premium Japanese ingredients with playful presentation really...
Read moreWas looking forward to dine here as i saw so many great reviews. Well, unfortunately i do not feel the same abou those reviews. We booked for a late lunch at 3pm as there were no earlier slots available. When we arrived, we were the only ones dining. The restaurant was uncomfortably empty. Our Yamakuzi Omakase course was 13,200 yen. The price is good for a 9 course meal. Yamakuzi is the area where they sourced for their tuna. The meal started out well but later on it dragged for way too long. It took 1.5 hours to complete our meal and we had a lot of waiting in between. I think that this can actually be managed better as we were the only diners in the entire restaurant. Also the course does not include drinks, but at least they could serve complimentary water or green tea. We were charged more than 800 yen for glass of green tea and when it was finished and we asked for more, they did not top up but got us another glass and charged us. I think that charging this price for green tea is a bit much or at least the tea could be refilled like many other Japanese restaurants. Also the price of tea was not stated on the menu. The sushi were somewhat ordinary, and nothing outstanding. the first course of Pokedon, was a nice surprise, served in a Poke ball and when u finish the tuna and salmon roe poke bowl, there is a pikachu character at the bottom of the ball. Cute! The Yamayuki Tuna burger was nice and a change from the usual type of sushi. Overall, i feel that the sushi rice could be better. For sweet endings, the dessert sushi was creative, the jelly a nice balance with the mascaporne cheese paired. I hope that they can improve on my...
Read moreI happened to discover this restaurant on social media. I was really intrigued by a specific anime-themed bowl they feature, so I came in just to see it! It's located right near the Roppongi crossing. I think the Hibiya Line might be slightly closer, but it's an easy walk from the Toei Oedo Line station as well. 🍣 What I Had Today • SUSHIROKU Omakase Short Course - • Hon-Maguro (Bluefin Tuna) Poke Bowl • Today's Chef's Special Dish • Four Kinds of Seasonal Fish Nigiri (Raw Shrimp, Sea Bream, Scallop, and Ikura) • Medium Fatty Tuna (Chutoro), Lean Tuna (Akami), and Marinated Lean Tuna (Akami-zuke) Nigiri • Three Kinds of Seared/Aburi Nigiri (Chutoro, Salmon, and Smoked Eel) • Japanese Black Wagyu Beef Sushi • Miso Soup with Seafood Broth • Warabi Mochi (Bracken Starch Mochi) • Matcha Green Tea The Poke bowl I had been wanting to see for so long! (I won't post the picture here, but I certainly snapped a commemorative photo, haha.) After finishing the bowl, there, at the bottom, was a certain electric mouse character! Since I grew up in that generation, just seeing it made me so happy and entertained! Even though it was the short course, the variety of sushi offered was so extensive that I felt thoroughly satisfied. The restaurant's interior features a great display of Sake bottles, and the clean, inviting atmosphere made the whole experience very comfortable. It was a very enjoyable time. Thank you for the wonderful meal!...
